Hey Old, I'm new to these forums, seeing your the man everyone turns to, I'll ask my question. I installed an aluminum fuel tank between my rear frame rails, threw out the original outside rail tank.(insurance companies hate them). mine was bought for the 73-87 chevy trucks, so it fit great...

I wouldn't weld the relocator handle either, for the same reason that you mentioned, having to get in there later on. What I was talking about was the smooth skin that goeas on the tailgate(outer) side. The top curls over the top of existing tailgate. Then the bottom gets bent over the bottom...

Did you get your tail gate relocator handle from Mar-k? I got the smooth tailgate cover from them, along with the relocator handle. I am only guessing but they make no mention about a continuous weld along thee vertical sides, I don't think tacks would look that good, and certainly don't need...

    dropped and new shoes installed

As soon as I get my new phone I will start posting pics of my build. I finally got the bolts loose on my leaf springs. I order a new set from Eaton Detroit, that has a built in 2" drop. That with the Mcgauphy axle flip and c notch will give me right around 8 inch total drop in the rear. My...

so I am guessing your front backspace is around 4.5", and your rear is around 5.5". The Scotts's crossmember is narrowed 3 ". !.5" per side, so this helps out with tire rub on say a 4.5-4.75 backspace. I am doing the rear drop now, a total of 7-8 inches, the the big question 1 piece or 2...

    drive shaft for lowered trucks

Got ya, J Knight. My yoke is not a slip on, it's a bolt on. I forgot to mention it is a th400. I need to mention that if I have one made, because I believe the th 400 uses a 1350 u bolt, instead of the 1310 or 1330 ujoints, correct me if I'm wrong.

    drive shaft for lowered trucks

Thank you J Knight, I will probably have one made, 1 piece, and do away with the two piece, so what you are saying is the center carrier bearing is done away with?

Only my 2 cents, I think the square body trucks do look better with the drip rails and emblems removed, especially when going with a dark paint scheme.

    drive shaft for lowered trucks

Ok guys I'm 63 years old building my 1st square body, I have a 75 chevy long box I am building. I have a 5" drop with a Scotts's dropped cross member in the front. for the rear I bought 2" drop leafs springs from Eaton Detroit. along with a mcgauphys flip kit and C notch. So, 5 in the front...

    dropped and new shoes installed

My front cross member was removed and a Scotts dropped crossmember installed. These units are shortened 1.5 inches on each side, to help tuck 20" tires deeper in the wheel well, so hopefully I won't have any rubbing issues. I will be p*** if they do rub.

Lowering Leaf Springs. Can't Find Them

about the 52" and 56" leaf springs on 1/2 ton trucks, could be whether or not it is a one piece drive shaft or a 2 piece shaft? I'm not sure but just asking. On my 75 long bed I went with Eaton 2" drop leafs along with Mcgauphys axle flip and C-notch This will give me 8" drop in rear, and on...

Lowering Leaf Springs. Can't Find Them

lowered leaf springs I went to Eaton Detroit, they can make some with up to a 3 inch drop. Very pricey. Mine ran around 800.00 with shipping. Also, long box c10's had 56" rear leafs.
