    After Market Guages

That's actually not a bad deal... I think I paid around 600 after a 100$ mail in rebate through auto meter.

Everything is electric. Did an ls swap so I had the signal at the ready.

Any tips/tricks for rear axle flip kit.

You'll want to pay due diligence when lining everything up - the big one being pinion angle, but that doesn't mean cut corners anywhere else. Your factory u-bolts should have worn a nice groove in the axle housing by now, so use those as reference for left and right. You'll want to measure...

10 bolt limited slip or upgrade to a 12b?

They are a ton of weight, I agree. I swapped one into my '92 1500 for the 10 bolt. I couldn't do an a/b comparison cause I went full roller with aluminum heads at the same time, but it was a tank.. I will admit that it drifted like butter, but ultimately wasn't worth the weight. On the...

350 Turns over but does not start

That depends.. is it a bone stock 350? 12-15 is probably a good start if it's a vac advance unit, play around from there. It's usually better to go easy on the advance. If you hear knocking take it back a ways. If it tries to lock itself up during starting you're way too advanced. Do a...

350 Turns over but does not start

Maybe pull that distributor off and verify that it's running true? Depending on how much load was on the thing, some bending may have occurred. That's a bit of a long shot if the cap isn't completely lunched. If it REALLY took some abuse, that oil may be leaking from the hold-down where it...

I remember seeing that thread - looks great!

10 bolt limited slip or upgrade to a 12b?

Wow I didn't even think of that. Discs on the rear are alone worth the time and effort to me - that extra security should an axle break or a clip fail makes it that more tempting. I'd definitely go for a 14 with a 5 lug if I could find one. Not saying that I wouldn't drill out a 6 lugger...

10 bolt limited slip or upgrade to a 12b?

I've been looking, trust me. My brother found a guy parting one out but of course that thing went in a split second.

10 bolt limited slip or upgrade to a 12b?

Sounds good to me! Thanks for the input everyone - now if I could only get my fordophile co-worker to shut his yapper about doing a 9" swap.. Not gonna happen. Ever.

    Grille trade?

Wanting to go back to a stock grille - preferably anything with the bigger squares and GMC emblem. The truck came with this tube grille that I'm not very fond of, so if somebody wants it give me a holler. I'm not sure if this is of equivalent value to a factory grille in decent shape, so...

10 bolt limited slip or upgrade to a 12b?

Sounds like a plan, I'll definitely beef it up where I can. I've heard the pinion can be a weakness as well in these, but if straps and u-joints are failing before that, I have a hard time believing such tales.

Nice, now I have 2 people to blame when mine detonates! Thanks for the input - looks like the summit fairy will be showing up soon.

10 bolt limited slip or upgrade to a 12b?

Nice, I love hearing success stories like this! I figured I'm being too cautious with it - while it is a daily, I have several (including the Tempest!) in case I lunch the thing, so not much risk there. I'm guessing at 12.7 you were throwing a fair amount more power at yours than I will be on...

10 bolt limited slip or upgrade to a 12b?

I've heard factory 10 bolts (8.5" ring gear) get a pretty bad rap as far as torque handling goes. I've got a one legged 3.42 behind 6 liters of ls, and i'm wondering if it's near the threshold. Engine is probably putting max 400 ft/lb on a good day (LQ9 with headers, 3" dual exhaust and a bit...

    Belltech

+1 Rent a ball joint press from Autozone it'll get the bushing sleeves out too. I did all moog on rods ends and I think ball joints too and it's been flawless for 2000 miles so far. Do it all especially if the current state of things is questionable. Shouldn't need a spring compressor...

I don't want to start a snowball for you, but depending on time and resources I'd say look into drop spindles. Actual drop coils like those will definitely be an upgrade over the hacked ones in there, but IMO if you want to do things right then spindles are the way to go. How far do you wanna...

How is 700r4 lock up controlled in a 1984?

I'm not sure what years, but I believe earlier ones controlled lockup via vacuum or line pressure switch and later ones were computer controlled? If the trans has a 4 pin connector on it, then there is a +12v wire connected to your brake switch, and 2 ecm wires (one is ecm ground to tcc...

    LS swap advice!

I'd keep looking for something a little newer. I've seen plenty of ls engines with that many miles and only needed water pumps replaced, but unless you know the driver and history I'd be cautious with 200k +. As a daily, a 4.8 won't be a bad engine, but if you're going through all that...

    85 c1500

It was actually quite easy to do - seems like the two were practically made for each other. Hardest part was wiring, but that just required due dilligence; even the minor fab work for motor mounts and pcm rework were of relative ease. If you ever find a good candidate for a swap don't...

    new seat cover

It needs a bit of massaging - there's a bunch of straps in the middle that I should have tightened up last. I just put it in this week so I'm hoping it will settle in. Foam was the reason I bought a "new" seat. The old one was killing my back. After the new seat went in I literally had...
