    Help! Headlight switch getting hot!

I realized that the crimp on the orange wire was weak so I re-crimped it. The terminal on the orange wire was also loose and was not completely snapped in to the headlight switch connector. The problem seems to be resolved. However I am still monitoring it just in case I'm wrong. But so far, so...

    Help! Headlight switch getting hot!

That's correct. Unfortunately I didn't have any yellow wire. Yeah I also realized last night that the orange wire doesn't feed the headlights. So I still have to repair the orange wire regardless. I already cleaned the ground wire connections. They were pretty corroded and dirty. I'm still...

    Help! Headlight switch getting hot!

That sounds like an awesome idea actually. As far as I know they're normal stock wattage sylvania headlights. One thing I failed to mention not knowing if it really mattered or not is that I have a Lance camper. Will that tend to draw more through the headlight switch? Sidenote; I have unplugged...

    Help! Headlight switch getting hot!

I would say a lil toasty, actually. Def not as hot as it got before I replaced it. But I just assumed its because the wiring and insulation is all new and the connector was melted so much the terminal was exposed on the orange wire and so I was able to touch it with my finger and I was like holy...

    Help! Headlight switch getting hot!

Thank you for the great input. I will definitely follow your advice. I'm a little skeptical about the loose crimp because I used both of my mitts and proceeded to crimp the life out of that wire. Perhaps I pinched it off? Doesn't look like it though. I can def solder it. I hope that's solves the...

    Help! Headlight switch getting hot!

Thank you for replying and sorry for the delay. The orange wire gets hot when the headlight switch is pulled out either halfway (parking lights) or completely (Headlights). It does not get hot if the switch is pushed all the way in (off). Before I replaced the headlight switch and the terminal...

    Help! Headlight switch getting hot!

I had a melted headlight switch connector and a old beat up headlight switch. So I replaced them both including new wires. I turned on the headlights and I could still feel the orange wire was still getting hot. As you can see in the photo, the orange wire splits into two orange wires. I've...

    No Start When Warmed Up?

Hello There, My Dually starts right up first thing in the morning. But once I park it and run in to the auto parts or something, it has a very hard time starting once the trucks warmed up. So bad, that I'm afraid it's going to leave me stranded. Any suggestions as far as what I should...

    No Running Lights!

Ok. Will do. I know that the cigarette lighter does work. So in other words, there shouldn't be two orange wires going into the circuit behind the light switch?

    No Running Lights!

*update* Ok, after several attempts to even squeeze my arms under the dash to get to the frayed wires, I finally did it. I repaired it back just the way I found it. Unfortunately, I noticed that the circuit has been melting over a period of time. So, my next question is, why? Even as I...

    No Running Lights!

Just to confirm, the dome lights, turn signals and headlights still work. So I'm glad to hear its a circuit or a fuse problem. But that light switch with its little button is a pain in the a$$! The circuit that plugs into it is what I need to get to since thats where the orange wires were yanked...

    No Running Lights!

I felt the button. And I pushed it while trying to pull the knob off and that sucker just wouldn't budge. I couldn't push any harder on the button without putting a permanent hole in my finger. I guess I will have to try again.

    No Running Lights!

Ok, I crawled my large frame underneath the dash and discovered that 1. I'm too fat. and 2. The orange wires were dangling by a thread to the light switch connector. What's funny as that the rest of the wires were nice and snug. But the orange wires were just hanging by a string. The orange wire...

    No Running Lights!

Hey there, Yesterday evening, I started my truck and realized that my instrument panel did not light up when I turned my headlights on. I stepped out of the truck and also realized that none of my running lights were working either. Only my headlights and turn signals. I checked all...

    Truck died when switching tanks

Hey there. I was filling up at the gas station yesterday. I started up my truck and realized that I had to switch over to the tank I just filled. Right as I hit my fuel tank selector button, the truck just died. It fired right back up though. Any suggestions why? Thank you in advance.

    Hesitation upon acceleration...

**update** Ok...It's been a couple days. My progress has been slow and painful! I got a hold of a timing light and discovered that the truck was running at 16 BTDC! So I adjusted it to 4 BTDC. It seems to have brought the idle down a tad too low though. The hood has a slight shake in it. I may...

    Hesitation upon acceleration...

Roger that. My friend cleaned the throttle body when we replaced the injector connectors. He said the injectors looked good. The truck recently passed smog also. I dont see a sign of any smoke whatsoever from the tail pipe either.

    Hesitation upon acceleration...

Thank you all for the info. On my way to get cap n rotor and carb cleaner. I will follow the instructions to search for any vac leaks. My buddy is gonna set the timing. Thanks for the timing Jim. To be continued...thanks everyone! Oh and fuel filter was replaced also.

    Hesitation upon acceleration...

Hmm...I just did the wires n plugs, but maybe I shouldve done cap n rotor too...is my timing a possible issue? Also I looked for loose vacuum lines but couldnt find anything disconnected. Unless theres vacuum lines hiding?
