I bought that engine for 400 dollars on a tire behind some guys shed. I have about 6400 dollars into the build right now everything from engine parts to the machining and balancing. Everything is new including bolts and hardware only original is the block it's self Sent from my SM-T710 using...

Big block chevy build, 489 stroker

Was going to use play doe to check the piston the valve clearance, flattening the play doe to like a 1/4 inch and lay on the piston. Then set the cylinder head on and snug up the head bolts and turn the crank over. Pull the head off and measure the indentation of the play doe with a micrometer...

Big block chevy build, 489 stroker

I'm putting together the cylinder heads soon, have everything needed. Still have to check piston to valve clearance because pistons are domed. Then i should be able to measure push rod length for my full roller rockers. I will keep posting pictures as I continue. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk

Big block chevy build, 489 stroker

11:1 compression, edelbrock performer rpm 110cc heads with a 290cc intake. Didn't bore block to a 496 because I didn't want to waste the engine block if something happened and not much more of gain. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk

    Heads and cam swap time?

I have swaped engines in a day and had it running before the day is over. Just make sure you have everything you need to do this cam swap.. tools, hardware and gaskets. The biggest thing is to take your time and not rush into it. Make sure you double check yourself. A simple mistake can cost...

    427 tall deck rebuild

No you can't, That is only good for a standard deck height. Might work if you used the original tall deck pistons, but those aren't easy to find.. nor are they desirable. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk

    427 tall deck rebuild

That kit is good for 700 horse, I'm looking for a 10:1 compression with 118cc heads. I didn't want to deal with the racing fuel bullshit, cause of expenses. If you are looking for a 496 kit for a tall deck that is the correct rod length. If you go with a 6.8 rod length you are looking into a...

That kit will work on a standard deck 9.8 not a tall deck 10.2 cause of rod length. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk

    427 tall deck rebuild

118cc will put me at 10.2:1 compression with this kit. Which is where I want to be cause I want to be able to use pump gas. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk

    427 tall deck rebuild

Well the kit I got from eagle came with 6.385 connecting rods with 18cc pistons, is there a way to figure the rod length depending on piston height. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk

    427 tall deck rebuild

Would you happen to know the connecting rod length for a 496 stroker with a 10.2 tall deck with a 4.25 stroke. I have a feeling I ordered the wrong stroker kit. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk

    427 tall deck rebuild

Seemed legit and had a decent shop, truthfully seemed knowledgeable. Just was confused on why he was hesitant on boring my block 60 over. Just didn't know if some one had more insight on the reason why. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk

    427 tall deck rebuild

Well I got the stroker kit for the 427 tall deck, thing is the pistons with the kit are 4.310 bore 60 over. The guy boring my block suggested i go with 4.280 bore pistons instead, in case something goes wrong the block can still be rebored. I am new to this and looking for any input or thoughts...

    427 tall deck rebuild

Appreciate the info, this by first complete engine rebuild so I am not to knowledgeable kind of learning as I go. Out of curiosity what are you thinking the hp and torque specs will be for a 496 stroker? I have a feeling I'm going to be rebuilding the transmission as well. Sent from my SM-T710...
