Just a note -- the truck sold to a nice young fellow and his wife in Portsmouth, Ohio. Daily driver.

Just bought a 2017 Sierra Denali CCSB

Mind you, that is running 93 octane, which the L86 prefers. But mileage has gone up 1 to 2 mpg since the trip I took in the first thousand miles. I suspect it's broken in now (4800 on the odo) and that's about as high as it will go. Oh, and I'm getting 18 in town. One reason for the mileage...

Just bought a 2017 Sierra Denali CCSB

Another follow-up. This past Saturday ended 22 days in which I made four trips in the Sierra. I spent seven days where I woke up at home and went to bed at home, seven days where I woke up somewhere else and went to bed in the same place, and eight days where I woke up in one place and went to...

FS: "Working Girl" 1978 K10 RCSB Fleetside

Sorry for the delay. Been traveling. Nope, haven't sold it. Couple people sniffing around, but no green yet. I never planned to part with it, but I need the creature comforts now (health issues) and it's not fair (to karma) to let it just sit. I'm not a collector, I'm a driver. I did...

Dreaded.... which cam should I get question!

Here's a thread about camshafts you might want to read: http://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/rebuilding-the-350-finally.17375/ And here's one about moving the shift points down for the 12-300-4: http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=26850.0

Dreaded.... which cam should I get question!

I'm running the CC 12-300-4 with the stock 1400 RPM torque converter. The 12-300-4 runs out of breath at about 4600 rpm, so I did move the WOT shift points down about 500 rpm by going one size larger on one of the weights on the governor, which takes maybe an hour to do. That keeps it from...

Dreaded.... which cam should I get question!

You don't need more compression for torque. That's for horsepower. Use the Comp Cams 12-235-2. If you want the most torque, use the 12-300-4. That's what I use. 275 hp and 420 ftlb. Google my last name and those cam numbers for much discussion on the forums.

How'd you run your spark plug wires?

I have these and they work. They add just a little extra pressure to the valve covers at a point a bit wider than most of the spreaders. The very ends are always a problem on 4-bolt SBC valve covers. The spark plug wires need to be routed a little unlike you would expect, though. The wires...

    Factory front leaf spring sag.....

To get rid of the negative arch, I used a 2" lift via Tuff Country EZ-Ride. To even out the front and back wheel spacing to the fender cutouts, I paired it with a 3" Tuff Country EZ-Ride lift in the back. The ride is much better when you get some positive-arch springs under it, but that means...

"Working Girl" post index & goodbye: I've bought a new truck

No, no, no. I got it with the '78 Cheyenne. I have never entered the Cheyenne in a car show before. Everybody and their brother-in-law down here has a classic car. All of those cars and trucks -- or pretty much all of them -- are garage queens. The Cheyenne has been for the last seven years...

Well, that was unexpected. Lots of really tough competition, including some nice squares.

    Timing issues?

That's one option. Another is to get a rebuilt Qjet from SMI Carbs. Have Sean Murphy tune one for your build. And the other is to tune the Edelbrock. They work fine if you tune them. They get a bad rap from people that just drop them on there, don't bother to tune them, and then say...

Just bought a 2017 Sierra Denali CCSB

So I'm doing a little messing around with numbers, figuring out why the 2017 Denali with the 6.2 liter has such a hole shot, even though it is a heavier (crew cab instead of regular cab) truck. Here's the numbers on my 78 Cheyenne K-10 first: 1st gear on a TH350 is 2.5:1, and the rear axle...

One more addition to the truck. So far it's been replace OEM POS Goodyear Eagle LS-2 tires with Michelin Premiere LTX, install rolling tonneau cover, install USB with my tunes, and install dash cam. Now I put in the Storage tub under the back seats. Didn't come with it, and I saved 20% buying...

(203 transfer) gear selection not accurate?

The leather 12-way power seats on the Denali do my old bones good. And with a 4.65 first gear and 420hp/460ftlb, it gets right out of Dodge. No, there's a time for everything, and I enjoyed my time with Working Girl. Someone else's turn.

(203 transfer) gear selection not accurate?

Hoo, boy. You mentioned me, Rusty Nail, which dragged me over here into this forum topic. Where the hell am I, anyway? To free up the NP203 shifter: Problem is, it hangs down there in all the mud and gets full of crap. First, get the hose out and hose off the shifter box from underneath the...

"Working Girl" post index & goodbye: I've bought a new truck

I've been thinking about a 1936 LaSalle Series 50 four-door sedan body on a built-up, all new, tubular steel chassis, with independent suspension and a 400+ horsepower GM Connect & Cruise powertrain. :) And the FS ad for Working Girl is up in the Classifieds...

Thanks for that. It's why I did it, and why I wrote such long answers, with the rationale behind them. All those answers over the past seven years are on the forums, and searchable within the forums or with Google. Hopefully they are a help to others in the future as well.

"Working Girl" post index & goodbye: I've bought a new truck

Not sure. I have a tendency to pick up a hobby, work on it hard, learn a lot, and move on after five, ten, fifteen years. Life is short, and there is so much one can do. I may circle back, I may not. This is my second time through cars.
