    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

Is the 74 dash really that different than the one that I did? Your description sure sounds like the typical Square Body dash.

Crew Cab Headliner Plastic Trim Pieces???

Ok, now all I need is a photo (maybe a quick measurement of the width) of the rear corner piece from one of those funny little standard cab trucks.

Crew Cab Headliner Plastic Trim Pieces???

HEY Bucket! Why'd you cut the pieces that I need! Actually I think that I should have all the pieces to go to the middle of the rear doors from my Suburban donor. * Does anyone have a photo of the rear corner trim from a standard cab? -Do people even drive those non 4-door standard cabs...

Crew Cab Headliner Plastic Trim Pieces???

Awesome, so this rear corner piece is the same as the regular cabs? That will definitely be easier to find locally.

Crew Cab Headliner Plastic Trim Pieces???

And, 5) Does anyone know where to get some Crew Cab interior trim pieces? Seems like there has to be a Square Body wrecking yard somewhere.

Crew Cab Headliner Plastic Trim Pieces???

I have a donor Suburban (91?, Not shown) that I plan on pilfering the overhead console and some trim pieces if they fit. 4) Are the headliner trim pieces from the CC (Crew Cab) and the Suburban the same from the middle of the rear door around front to the other rear door

Crew Cab Headliner Plastic Trim Pieces???

These photos are from a different ’83 C30 CC The trim piece that is between the doors is different than what is in my 89. 1) Are all of the CC trim attachment points the same during the different years? 2) Is the rear corner trim piece (Yellow Arrow and Square) the same on the Crew Cabs and...

Crew Cab Headliner Plastic Trim Pieces???

I have an 89 C30 (R30) Crew Cab that is missing the headliner and headliner trim pieces. Sorry for the poor photos, my phone just doesn’t pick up the black on a cloudy day. It does have the trim piece between the doors under the upper seat belt mount (Yellow Arrow) but doesn’t seem to go up as...

A little more Plastic Adhesion Promoter on the vents and colored them also.

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

After sleeping on it and looking at it the next day, I liked the texture but wasn’t happy with the color. Luckily I had some SEM Saddle Tan colorant which was a darker brown than I had expected.

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

I then used Upol’s Raptor bed liner reduced down with a little acetone. I added some Beige colorant to the bed liner. Had to hold the gun further away from the piece than I normally do to get the texture that I wanted. Next time I probably wouldn’t reduce the bed liner so much at first. I am...

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

Decided that I wanted to epoxy primer first. First I hit the dash with two coats of SEM’s Plastic Adhesion Promoter and let that flash off

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

I didn’t like the way the VIN window was turning out, so I made this little piece out of 1/8” acrylic that I had and use CA glue to install it. It is a much cleaner look now.

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

Anything can be reproduced, I know a metal guy that is a true artist and can make anything out of metal including our dashes. I would imagine that it would be thousands of dollars and not really cost effective for our trucks. My dash repair is less than $100

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

The dash insert trim thingy had some scratches so I hit it with some acetone, scuff pads and some sandpaper. It will get epoxy primed, then base coat and cleared.

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

After a couple of coats of the epoxy, I went back to the flexible bumper body filler which spread out very nice. At this point, if I was planning on covering the dash with either vinyl or leather, I would be done. But this dash is going to get textured using thinned down bed liner, so I will...

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

The flexible epoxy is good stuff but a little more difficult to work with as it has a pretty long setting time. It also stays somewhat viscous and moves around. I tried to level the surface as much as possible, but due to the shape of the dash I had to do it in two application. The flexible...

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

I had high hopes for the Upol 7061 Flexible High Density Body Filler (Flexible Bumper Filler) and used it on one of the cracks that I had V’d out. The Upol does sand fairly easy, the problem was that it was too thick and therefore not flexible enough. The dried vinyl adjacent to the flexible...

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

Foamed it up and left for the evening. The next day I used a combo of blades and my little grinder with a 3” 30 grit disk to knock down the foam.

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

Bought some mesh material at the local hardware store along with a can of foam. Cut the mesh to size and glued them in place using CA glue. The CA glue worked very well.
