    i installed an msd cap and rotor, new plugs and wires, edelbrock intake and carb. got it fired up today for the first time in about a year.

    im not sure if your miss was diagnosed but if the oil pressure flicks during the miss then it has to be electrical right? maybe the coil wires crossing with the oil pressure wire... grounding the coil out once in a while, making the oil dip and causing a miss

    I used a harbor freight tranny jack, made it a lot easier then trying to balance it on a floor jack. same deal as a 2x4 really, id leave the xcase connected and just unbolt/unplug everything and pull it

    3 chamber flowmasters are pretty "quite", i like being loud so i usually go with the 2 chamber 40's... fake cats huh? should still pass smog if youre running clean right? or would you be swapping em every time you need smog? im just happy i found that diesel truck for $400,,, my trucks...

    went and bought a stub for the dizzy, while i was there i picked up an MSD cap and rotor kit, that'll get me going on swapping over to all MSD ignition. everything went in smoothly. I got all the plug wires on and for the most part ready to turn the key and see what happens

    I think ill get a stub and nut for it, better safe than sorry... on the xcase shifter, i think i got it back together right. I spent like an hour playing with it and finally got everything in there, it looked like the pic i found online and got the case closed and bolted... still havent...

    so i got the dizzy back in, lined up, i think (its pointing to one and at dtc) but the hold down bolt seems like its too long, feels like its bottoming out when i go finger tight on it and its only half way in. I dont want to strip it out, maybe ive got the wrong bolt or i just need to wrench it...

    i wouldnt risk the motor over some valve springs, might as well do them while you have it all apart... thats what i'd do
