if you do that youll be at your friendly local leos office and theyll be crawling under it with a flash light. if its reg'd and insured with the correct plate, tag,slip, and insurance youre good, imho lol
yeah its smog exempt, thank god. im working on getting my headers (ive got some hedmans) and new pipes once i get some more money, or find something usable at the pick n pull. id really like true duals, i had them on my old long bed k10 and it sounded mean with flows and 2 1/4 pipes, no cats...
yeah, i need to clean it, its so greasy and dirty i dont think i could put the pump back on with it looking like that. degreaser and a pressure wash it is, ill go easy on it
yep, you were right, thanks. There was a ton of grease coming out from where the fan bolts up too, damn this pump really was toast... I think ill pressure wash the front of the motor before i put the new pump in. Maybe clean off the balancer and mark tdc to make it easier to time.
Finely got to that water pump, yep, theres the problem. I didnt know water pumps even had that hole. Grease and stuff coming out from behind the pulley, im guessing thats a bad sign....
at least I can clean it up a bit and get rid of that old AP bracket

did my ujoint the other day, nice and clean, and red! wouldn't of needed to do it but the cap came off and the little bearing things went all over the damn place. pretty easy job really, two sockets and a bfh. hit it on the gound next to the truck, took 15 mins. not bad for a first time. lol
I changed the hose and clamps, still drips when i fill it up... I think this is an early warning sign, it did seem to run a little warm before the drive shaft crapped out last year... im just gonna change it, what are they, about $40 right?
made some progress.... did the ujoints on the floor with two sockets and a bfh. not bad for my first time, seems way better now, not very much play or knocks when i twist the DS back and forth

sorry to be butting in here, just gonna see if anyone has any input on this.. I think the water pump is oem... I think the water pump is cracked, it seems to be leaking from the side of the lower hose tube, does that sound right? do these things just wear out and start to drip? its pretty rusty...
so it was all back together, i was going to do the timing when i noticed a drip coming from the front of the motor. I thought it was a bad lower hose so i changed it, still leaks.. I got under it and it looks like the water pump is leaking from the housing, it look oem and it rusty so im...
1/2 ton long bed, high sierra... 100 each sounds pretty good to me! ill be 40 bucks away from a free truck with front clip, cab, and bed still left over....
Ill have to find out what the gears are, i think its a 12 bolt but ill have to double check.

so i got all the old smog stuff plugged up... those tubes that come up off the manifold were blowing exhaust out on the drivers side. sounds way better now.
a problem popped up of course, lower radiator hose is leaking so ill have to pull it off again. sounds like the passinger sidwe manifold...
you should be able to spin the front drive shaft by hand if it has the kit... i have a 203 w/ a part time kit in mine... i like it, i can leave the front hubs locked and drive around in 2x4 then shift to 4x4 on the fly and go off road... youll lose 4hi though... 4loloc-4lo-n-2hi-4hiloc...

id have to say it depends how bad you messed it up... you might be able to rebuild it cheaper than buying a new one... or get one cheap off CL if you want to gamble having to do the job again... 300 and 450 seem a little steep to me, could be because i run 203/205 and have never paid more than...
