    Wrong brake calipers?

Got these reman calipers from Autozone and already left my old ones there for cores, so I don’t have them to compare to. Seems like these bumps (where the paint is worn from me pushing hard on them) protrude out so far that they push against the brake dust shield and prevent the holes from...

    Ball Joints Need Adjustment?

Well, that was easy. wrenched on the adjuster sleeve for the upper ball joint half a turn (pushing it downward), and then torqued the lower to half of the specified torque setting (35ftlbs), then torqued the upper to the specified torque setting (100ftlbs), then torqued the lower ball joint the...

    Ball Joints Need Adjustment?

Thanks @scrap--metal I figure that I need to remove the ball joint nuts, readjust the sleeve and start over installing them again. Before I do, I thought I would see what experiences others have had. Thanks for your input.

    Ball Joints Need Adjustment?

Just loosen the ball joint nuts and see if it frees up? Seems like it would need the sleeve adjusted.

    Ball Joints Need Adjustment?

After installing ball joints on the 1/2 ton 4WD for the first time, they appear to be too tight after torquing them to the specifications of 70ft-lbs lower, 100ft-lbs upper. The adjustment sleeve was inserted to the recommended location “exposing 2 threads”, but was still easy to turn without...

    Exterior LED accessory light ideas

Are these the 3/4" lights that come in a 10 pack for around $10? What types of switches are you using? Those are a bunch of great applications you listed for the small circle lights. I may need to follow suit.

    4WD Tie Rod Choices

Thanks Eric. Will do. Looks like it was done a while back based on the tie rod end rubber. Then again, in the Arizona sun, nothing lasts long.

    4WD Tie Rod Choices

So I am currently in the middle of rebuilding the front end of the 1/2 ton V1500 (see my signature for link to that truck's thread). In the process, I see there are a variety of tie rod ends available. I have the solid piece on the L driver's side, like #4 in the LMC diagram below. While I...

Clean old windows- years of gunk!

Yep, Prescott, AZ water ruins faucets and toilets faster than anywhere else I've lived. Hard water just means more maintenance I guess. CLR can work ok. I've found "Bar Keeper's Friend" cleanser and steel wool gets glass clean faster however.

Steel wool on the glass outside always worked better than anything else for me.

So pry down on the steering knuckle to put pressure on the lower ball joint nut, then tighten that nut?

What have you done to your square lately??

Wire wheeling the front axle and components, painting them, and rebuilding the front end. Got stuck on tightening the lower ball joint nut. The threaded post of the new ball joint spins with the nut and the nut won’t tighten down. Any tips?

    Door panel resto- backyard style

I wonder if I can use a nylon brush on a grinder (or something similar). If there are brush marks after brushing off the paint, maybe the heatgun could smooth them out?

What have you done to your square lately??

Ajax, in 2007 we bought our first house on Country Club Place in Spring Valley, right at the 125/94 junction behind the IHOP and Wendy's. Then 2008 hit, I got laid off, our first born son wasn't even 1 year old yet, and we had to foreclose in 2009. I love the more rural places like Campo in SD...

    Door panel resto- backyard style

Hey @Grit dog , you've got me curious now. Whats the process like to clean up oxidation on the panels with a heat gun? Are other tools used like a brush/cloth/plastic knife? I'm hoping to take off the black spray paint from my door panels some day (saddle tan is showing through in the spots...

I was born n raised in north county San Diego. Definitely remember when there wasn't as much in Ramona @Mr Clean . We would drive the 78 through Escondido and Ramona to get to Julian. Where I live now reminds me of Julian/Mount Laguna quite often with all of the of the Ponderosa pines.
