    School me on the 454...

TBI 454s can get decent fuel economy. I parted one out in 07 that averaged 14 mpg with no trailer. A large part of its life was spent with a bed load of tools, firewood, or some sort of payload. Completely stock internally, long tube Hooker headers, 2 1/2" dual exhaust, K&N intake, 4.10...

    Compression and tbi

I call bullshit on that one. Come on over and take a ride in my K1500, certainly no torque lost there.

    Look what I found....

I just sold a pair of 1 tons. 60 front, 70 rear, 4.56 gears. Sold them to the first guy I told about them for $600. I know I could have got way more, but I needed cash fast. Lowest I've ever sold a 60 by itself was $600. ..$1800 would be a very low estimate considering they're all 4.56...

    1973 454? Rare!!!!

ZL1 Camaros are rare. Z28s are not. There is a huge difference between uncommon and rare. No real collector value in these trucks yet anyways. They're not yet uncommon to see in daily driver use.

    1973 454? Rare!!!!

That would mean 2500 big block trucks... Not "rare" at all, just uncommon. Unless it is a fully optioned truck, with a higher trim level or something, not much more collector value than a comparably equipped small block truck.

    Low throttle bog

so the problem only happens when its cold? and you work a mile from home. how long are you letting the truck run before you take off? could be as simple as you're not letting the truck warm up enough, so the choke isn't completely opening.

    exhaust question

check summit. you'll get a much better price, & a better quality kit. I recommend a hooker, as its mandrel bent .

improve your ac in 20 minutes

for $30 I don't know why you would even bother messing with the used one in the yard, that may fail tomorrow. and for what it's worth, the replacement numbers for square body and the GMT 400 are the same. your improvement is likely from having an old worn-out border, versus having a brand new...

Anyone running a lift with a snow plow?

Mine had 3 leaf springs in the front, and on 33 x 12.50s I couldn't get the pivot low enough. Mine is a 7.5' Western standard mount.

Need advice on building rear end

Curious to see the adapters you have on the axle.Is that maybe a 5 to 8 lug adapter? 6 to 8 is not possible, because the studs would overlap.

    1 ton guys, c'mere for a minute...

I've seen a bunch of those. They're nearly as wide, or wider than a drw Dana 60 front. This thing is considerably narrower.

    1 ton guys, c'mere for a minute...

The truck they were pulled from was definitely factory, but not complete enough to tell exactly what it was. There was a 400/203 combo sitting near by, so I'm guessing it was post of the stock drivetrain.

Your response actually came through As i was writing mine. As to of the hub swap would work, I'm not sure. I'll really have to tear into the able to find out. Great news is, I have a SRW 14 bolt,a wide DRW 14 bolt, and this Dana 70 to play with.

    1 ton guys, c'mere for a minute...

I'm no rookie myself. changing tubes also means shafts. Looking to see a) what the hell this thing came out of as in the 30+ trucks that have passed through my hands, I have never seen one like this before. And b) to know if there are hubs available to do just what I need to do, make it...

    1 ton guys, c'mere for a minute...

what the heck is this Dana 70 out of? I know it was a Chevy, and I know it was 77 to 79 because it has drive slugs on the front axle. the front is definitely a Dana 60, and definitely dual rear wheel. the rear definitely has me confused though. plainly marked Dana 70. backing plate to backing...

so what options were available in 1977?

Looking at creature comfort upgrades for my 77, to make it a little more user friendly, as well as period correct. I've got a set of 16.5" Jackman wheels that I'm planning on running, as well as going to a TBI setup (even though it's 10 years too new, still resembles a carb, and it's...
