    Which tranny should i run?

Thanks for the props, but I'm by no means up on the working of an automatic Trans, though I've been around these trucks for many years, I do know what it takes to keep one alive. The biggest thing is to not spin the Trans too slow, you are right, 2000 is right about the sweet spot for a stock...

    Which tranny should i run?

Just went to the extreme with your logic. 3.08 gears are not enough for any truck with a 700r4, much less one with a truck sized tire, or bigger tires.

    Which tranny should i run?

There are a lot more factors than just rpm. If your logic were accurate, we would all be driving 2.56 geared trucks on 44A.D. Reality is, if the rpm is too low, you will lug the engine, and economy goes to shit.

What size tire with stock K10?

Measure the backsliding. I'd put money on it being over 4", which was stock.

4 link coil spring front 4x4 cc drw

I did read between the lines... 4 links require a lot of geometry.and the axle will not clear the crossmember with low lift, so using the stock coil buckets its out of the question.

    done the add a leaf!

Bad idea! That bolt holds the axle in position under the truck. You need one that fits snugly in the hole in the axle, and a grade 8 bolt wil not do that.

4 link coil spring front 4x4 cc drw

If it were just as simple as welding up a couple bars/heims, nobody would run leaf springs. Truth of the matter is that there is a TON of geometry that goes into a 4 link to get it to ride and perform decent.

    Spring Under Axle Setup

If you have problems with spring wrap, this could be a good way to remedy it, as that it's specifically why the above mentioned vehicles run them that way.

Those squares aren't getting dirty, they're getting dusty. Lame video. My 4 year old loves the song though.

Th350c started in 82, and the only way you can get a 205 after 80 is from a 1 ton.

    Mech. to Hydraulic clutch conversion?

I've seen them as early as 82 with the dimples for the master cylinder mounting, in an 85, they're definitely there. I had a 79 with cutouts and even the screw holes for the 3.5" speakers in the corners of the dash... An option that didnt appear until about 84.

Is it possible to put any GM axle on a squarebody?

73-87 1/2 and 3/4 ton 4x4 trucks wil be a direct bolt in front and rear, 73-91 Suburban and Blazer will also bolt right in. the 77-91 1 ton Dana 60 front wil also bolt in. anything 3/4 ton and heavier will require spring plates that match the axle.

    Mech. to Hydraulic clutch conversion?

Don't buy a "kit", use stock parts. I have an illustration at home worth the proper location of the holes in the firewall to mount the master cylinder for proper geometry. I'll try to remember to post it up later.

    Which tranny should i run?

The driveshaft will only be right if the donor truck has the same trans, transfer case, and adapter combo as his truck. I've never had issues with stock driveshaft length on a 14 bolt swap. A lot of people will tell you a 3/4 ton swap is worthless as a strength upgrade, and the are correct...

    Which tranny should i run?

Guys, for what he's doing with the truck, a set of 4.10 gears, a trans cooler, and some preventative maintenance to the trans will make the truck plenty reliable, and be better than just ditching the 700r4. A simple 3/4 ton able swap to a set of axles that already have 4.10s in then it's way...

4 link coil spring front 4x4 cc drw

Take all that 2wd junk out. It's doing nothing for you but adding to your problem of sprung weight, and making custom work necessary where it doesn't need to be. Yes your engine weighs 1100 pounds, but that's not a ton more than the big block a k30 would have come from the factory with...

4 link coil spring front 4x4 cc drw

Do some research on leaf spring rates, and shackle length and angle, and put a good quality set our leads in it and be done. It's entirely possible to get a good ride out of leaf springs, most are just too lazy to set them up properly, or too cheap to buy good springs.
