    Rear Pinion Seal

.... Ah yes, very sorry. Rotation force (also known as drag) would be inch pounds! Yes, very sorry about that. Accidentally copied and pasted one thing incorrectly. If tightening by torque on the nut though you would want to be using ft pounds to get it to the point where you can measure...

    Rear Pinion Seal

Typically you are supposed to have it with a new crush sleeve and tighten it down until you get a measurable value of drag using a beam torque wrench. I think about 15 - 25 lb ft of rotational drag on the pinion nut when you get it to a certain point is the value. There is no measured torque...

Can these bed sides be saved?

Also, one consideration you might check into is looking at Auto Metal direct or similar companies like Classic Industries, Brothers, or LMC and getting replacement pieces. You could just get one side at a time and a header panel and make it a weekend project.

454 with 10 bolt rear end?

I did not realize we were talking about a big block and big tires. that 10 bolt will be living on borrowed time if that is the case, lol. Drive sparingly to make it last. I'd look at a Semi float 14 bolt or a full floater, and as long as you do not flog it your front 10 bolt can be ok. I'd...

    Rear Pinion Seal

In case you do not have aa tool or socket big enough to drive it on further take a piece of 2 x 4, drill a hole in it large enough to go over the pinion, and then hammer it around the edges. Put the old pinion nut on in case you smack the pinion, that way you won't goof up the threads. Use a...

Can these bed sides be saved?

Honestly, as much love as there isn't for long beds you could probably pick up a whole bed for a few hundred bucks in far better shape and spend far less on that than trying to replace that rot. Colors may not match at all but you gotta pick your poison at some point.

    Roller break-in?

I'm in the same boat. Most vehicles now days have some pre-break in done on a test run at the plant but I'm never sure about crate motors but I know that the easy break in seems to cause more issues with long term ring wear and lower compression at an earlier stage of life. I had a good friend...

    76 silverado door panels

I think it was part of the custom deluxe package or something like that. Can't recall the exact package name. it was a really nice finish on those door panels. Stuff like that makes me want to scratch the power windows and swap back to thos old door skins, but to be fair I figure with a...

    Quad Shocks?

A good pair of performance shocks is going to be better than the generic quad setups that you find with oem or budget style shocks.

    Suburban tailgate glass

I can't speak for the suburban version but when I rebuilt my k5 tailgate I noticed that there were some broken pieces of the wire insulation on and around the safety switch area so I would highly recommend Replacing the wiring in there (does not have to be color coded but it is nice if you can...

454 with 10 bolt rear end?

If you are prone to using your throttle like a light switch it probably won't last too long but there has been plenty of 10 bolt axles behind big blocks since forever ago and it should last fine as long as you are not getting the tires glued down and doing clutch drops.

    Roller break-in?

Roller cams do not need to be broken in - if you care to read further here is a link to the Pace web page - https://paceperformance.com/p-3978-engine-start-up-procedure.html You still want to make sure and seat the piston rings. There are a lot of opinions on the right process. I...

    77 K10 LS Swap

I'd just be sure and check it after a couple of years. Not sure what it is made of but I am sure it will corrode away until it leaks just like most of the cheap stuff they put on trucks now days.

    77 K10 LS Swap

Generally the best thing to do with your steam hose is add it back to the heater return line like the factory does. There is a fitting made specifically for it. Here is a link to the info about it and part #. It is available on Rockauto.com but using the part # you can probably find it at a...

    Front drive shaft is hitting

People tell me when you swap to Poly mounts that you feel vibrations through the chassis more but I think that also depends on your cab mounts and how worn out they may or may not be and personally I have not had my junk running yet to know.

    How to... lift Suburban 4x4

Technically anything stock needs steering correction to get rid of the super aggressive brake pull.... That being said if you lift it more than 2 inches put a corrected steering arm on it at the very least.

    Front drive shaft is hitting

One of the reasons they changed was for clearance but I think it was more for including exhaust that had catalytic converters more-so than the driveshaft but it is certainly possible they did account for that in the process. FWIW I know my flat crossmember has wear mark on it from...

    77 K10 LS Swap

Most LS swaps don't use the rear O2 setup. Doubtful his does. FWIW having the o2 sensors pointed up as much as possible is recommended because otherwise moisture gets in them and fouls them if they are hanging anywhere near horizontal.
