    If you’re going to be in the mud look at some Goodyear drag slicks as they’ll get you through just as well as the thornbirds. If just going for looks the thornbirds will be ok.

    Thats how it is. 1) live with it 2) soft top and pickup tailgate 3) fabricate a lift hatch like the 1st gen had.

    The bowler kit is a nice piece. You won’t have buyers remorse if that’s the route you choose. Being in Rocklin and your proximity to the Sierra with all the trails,I get the appeal of the nv4500.

    The Detroit unlocks when the driveshaft stops putting power into it. Turn a corner while pressing the throttle and it stays locked. Driving in a straight line and coasting/power/coasting - say as if in traffic. That re engaging of the locker function is what I a referencing.

    For a 10.5 ff axle, absolutely. For the 9.5 sf not so much. Both axles are referred to as 14 bolts, but totally different beasts.

    The only selectable locker for your differential is an ARB part RD197 You’ll also need to purchase an air compressor to run it.

    I would look to a limited slip/posi unit over a locker. That diesel engine is not a tire shredder and being in Sweden, ice and a locker can make some awkward situations. A Detroit trutrac will lock upon wheel spin but act open for all other driving.

    Rear driveshaft help.

    If the trans case doesn’t have a slip yoke the driveshaft should have a splined extension joint. Typically the portion with the male splines attaches to the differential.
