    new rotors old hubs

Just an update, after using this tool to snug up the rotor to hub. It stripped the lug nut. Might work on a Toyota but not on these tight bad boys. Again I did not have enough ass to tighten it down enough to snug the hub and rotor together. Pounded them back out and will attempt again today...

    Today's drama, it never ends!

Holy smokes this never ends. Got the new studs and they are identical to the old studs. Got them almost all the way seated, but they are still not snugging down. I don't have enough ass to get them down. I have to be doing something wrong. It can't be this hard. They just won't seat tight. I...

    Mirrors just wont stay!

Everything in life has some risk, and what you have to actually learn to do is how to navigate it.

All new for me Sarge! I didn't get this deep in and not replace everything 35 years old. Well, almost everything.

    Fuel tank overfilled

Then it has to be crossed, right?

    Fuel tank overfilled

Fuel lines not crossed that I know of. And yes, fuel pukes into the evaporator canister when left tank is on.

    Worst week so far!!

Thinking I need to step back from the fuel problem. As far as I can tell, the truck runs on the right tank as it always has. Fuel will start to fill the evap canister if I switch to the new left tank. Still no fuel gauge either side. So I'll leave it for now and not switch tanks. Going to tackle...

Quick question on front rotors / wheel bearings

I know this tread is a year old, but I am getting ready to jump on this endevour. Got every thing on hand except the new brake pads, which arrive today. Tried to find every thread related to absorb the knowledge. Wish me luck.

    new rotors old hubs

"It isn't a big job" my famous last words. Dropping the gas gas tank and replacing the fuel pump was a cake walk. Now the fuel system is twice as bad as before I touched it.

    new rotors old hubs

Thanks, Buddy gave me his. With my luck, wouldn't attempt the job without it.

    Fuel tank overfilled

Finding out it only pours out when I switch to left (aux) tank.

    Fuel tank overfilled

How can fuel be pouring out of the hose going into the evaporator canister. Siphoned 2 gallons out of each tank. Now as I'm cleaning out the canister, little black chunks are coming out. Now I need to fix another problem.

    Fuel tank overfilled

Going to try to shake the fuel out, let it dry out and reuse. It's only an evaporation canister right. All the pollution equipment, (air pump, egr,..) has been removed.

I'm on it. Everything appears correct. I am missing something and it's very disturbing I can't see it.

    new rotors old hubs

Hoping the hubs are good, they look good but what do I know from good? Replacing the races & bearings, rotors, wheel studs and brake pads. Hopefully I don't screw that up like I did the fuel system. Got one of these too.

Does the gas gauge wires go through the 6 way?

    Worst week so far!!

Checked the float on the bench, ohms we're in range. Nothing happens when attached to wiring harness. Gauge stays at full for both tanks.

    Fuel tank overfilled

Made the mistake of over filling one of the saddle tanks. Got fuel pouring from the canister in the front next to the radiator. Is that canister ruined now, it's probably full of gas. I'll check it in the morning.

Would still love to know what I did to screw up my gas gauge?

    Worst week so far!!

I appreciate the insights guys. Rechecking all connections and blowing out lines, next week. I do think it's electrical and not mechanical, but what do I know. I may have even kinked a line installing the new pump, but it still has the same issue as when I started. Thanks again!
