It is really all about preference. I'd stick with the slider. I like having my arm along the seat and just reach up and popping it open for a little crossflow ventilation. -

Yep, the tag on a previous 203 I had was blue and facing the front of the truck. Nothing on this one. I'm heading back out shortly to have another look and snap a few more pics.- GTX63

Correct, the VIN is C indicating 2wd. I have a 79 Bonanza and an 85 Silverado in front of this one so I'm not sure when the official restoration will begin, but it is always nice to know a little history from these old gals. I'll post up the transfer case tag likely tomorrow if I can get time.- GTX63

Yes, the transmission is a TH350. I would agree that is beginning to appear like the body was set onto a 4wd frame, I just can't wrap my head around why. Non of the previous owners I tracked down mentioned it. I'm replacing the bed, rockers, cab corners, front fenders and wheel wheels. Unless...- GTX63

Cab worth fixing?
When I was 20, the best most of us could do was pack bondo in the holes and primer over the blobs. Today, patch panels and replacement metal are cheap, real cheap. Harbor Freight sells Flux Welders for less than $200 and LV paint sprayers that can run off of small air compressors. There isn't... -

It is a 203 and full time 4wd. I agree, it is possible it was swapped out, but from making contact with the last two owners, and the exterior appearance, it would have been a very long time ago. The RPO list is also gone.- GTX63

No, I did some checking. The truck is for certain a 1980 model, however the TC, and it is original, is a 203. They must have been emptying the old stock as this one was rolling down the line. The issue was definitely linkage related.- GTX63

Batteries
Had the battery in my 2009 2500 Silverado die in 2016. Bought a new battery at Walmart for $74. That battery lasted until 2 months ago. The cheapest replacement I could find was at Advance Auto for $205. Yes, I agree, batteries have changed over the past few years.- GTX63

Can’t decide on single or dual tanks
My first truck, many years ago, was a 79 K10. It had dual tanks, which I thought was a cool feature at the time. Oil burnin 5.3
Yes the AFM motors have the tendency to consume the oil and it is worth it (to me) to do the delete. My two sons have Chevies with the 2.4 they both drive to college. Are pneumatic tools obselete?
Both have their place, and for most it will be about preference. I'm not getting rid of my compressor, I'm just adding more eggs to the basket. -
Are pneumatic tools obselete?
A battery powered impact beats leaning on a 4 way, for me, anyday. I did 15 years as an ASE certified tech, and I got tired pretty early on listening to noisy 3 stage compressors kicking on and running at about 100 db. Having one in my truck's toolbox has been a back saver more than a few times.
