If I had the money to spend as so many of you seem to have, I would buy top of the line generators.
I have to live on a small social security check and it's expensive enough just to cover normal living expenses and travel to the big city to do any shopping or go to medical stuff.
Minimum 120...
The engine is a Honda clone, no filter, Cabelas brand generator, runs at 3600 rpm.
4KW unit.
The paperwork is lost, but all the generators I have had over the years say use a good 10w30 all year round for the average temperatures here.
If I lived somewhere it went below zero, I would run a...
I can go along with that in an engine that doesn't have oil pressure delivered by a pump.
Have seen many automotive engines with worn rod bearings that quit knocking as soon as oil pressure builds.
Of course, when they wear past a certain point, they are going to tap or knock all the time, even...
At 610 ppm, I might think that could be sufficient for the GTX.
It's definitely higher than zero, and easy to find 10w30 on the shelf.
I started the generator a couple minutes ago, and maybe the daytime warming made a difference, but no knocking sounds and it fired up immediately.
I have been using Castrol GTX 10W30 in all my 4 stroke engines for many decades, never had an issue from the oil.
I see it's available in a high zinc version for classic cars, but only in 20W50 which is too thick especially when it's cold like it's been.
Not sure where to post this, so I put it here, feel free to move the thread if needed.
Weather here has been brutally cold, so much that I rely on the remote electric start on my generator as I can't hobble out in the cold and snow to start it.
The unit is only 3 years old, and doesn't have a...
One of the many members here that know me will probably chime in soon and blame it on space aliens messing with you.
On a side note, I gave up trying to fix the courtesy and dome lights on my truck.
Over the decades, I have seen several white winter holidays in Tucson, and with the screwy weather we have been getting, don't be surprised if you see one there.
And yes, definitely please post some pix of your truck !!
Let's leave my space aliens out of this for the time being, they have been rather well behaved lately, at least around here.
IF the OP is still around, I suggest major troubleshooting and testing of all things electrical on his truck.
And @RustyNail I will beg to differ on the Castrol ... I have...
I have never done a bonded title, but have done a few abandoned vehicle titles here in AZ, and those took anywhere from 6 months to a year.
Once, I bought a 49 Pontiac from an old lady and when I went to get title and registration, MVD said there were two cars with the same VIN in the system and...
I started it when I began the thread.
I am sick and tired of buying new batteries for my solar setup to power the house and I want to try and extend the charge, power output, and service life of the batteries I recently bought.
The theory my neighbor and I were discussing was if the specific gravity is within the green zone but closer to the top it might be okay to simply add distilled water.
Conversely, if the reading was at the lower end of the green zone, the premix solution might be preferred.
Looking into the...
Something tells me the level should be a tad higher since the split tubes are so long inside the case.
And that would also help insure the level can't get so low the plates are exposed.
I recently got a couple big 8D deep cycle batteries for my solar setup, and now they appear to have lost a little electrolyte even though with my setup it's impossible to boil them.
I'm thinking for general principle I might want to add some liquid and bring the level up, even if I don't go...
So when all is said and done, all those cars using the service, plus people on their smart phones suck up all the bandwidth here and leave me without any service at all, phone or internet.
@idahovette
Supposedly, all 3G will be gone by the end of this year.
I thought 2G was already history a while back ...
I'm surprised your 2G onstar and other features are still working.
4G gets overloaded real easy with all the traffic it sees and equipment isn't being upgraded to handle it.
5G...
I have heard many stories about cars getting hacked, sabotaged to malfunction, even making stealing them easier.
I'm sure that is thanks to the modern computer age and some way of connecting to the internet.
At least when I have my satellite internet and a herd of tourists drive by the town in...
I'm curious how all the new cars connect to the internet for the services that are built in to their computers.
Is it cell phone based, or satellite, I find it hard to see satellite as there are no dishes mounted on the roof.
The reason I ask is because (for the next 2 days) I am still stuck...
And the worst part of it all (and not limited to transmission shops) is that I have NEVER seen a shop that is worth paying them a shop rate of 100 bucks or more per hour.
