Taking off passenger head about 37 bolts so far

Yeah, sometimes GM liked to confuse the issue by integrating metric fasteners into the mix. One of the regular posters has actual experience from the manufacturers perspective.

Take a big flat screwdriver or medium prybar, put the blade in the teeth of the ring gear straight on, up against the case where convenient and use that to wedge the ring gear from moving. One hand on the screwdriver and the other on the wrench. Do this for all three bolts. An actual flywheel...

Who sells the best fitting dash pad. Time for a new one

I'd settle for an octave or two above fugly The more I read about people's experiences with aftermarket dash pads, and seeing how brothers pad is holding up in his c10, it has me leaning towards recovering the one I have. Then I can decide to stay with the rpo code for saddle or finish what...

Anyone live in Portland, OR have a shop they like? Need to pass emissions…

Can't run it through just for the readings? I haven't had to register in the DEQ area in 20 years, so things might be different from what I remember. The dyno test was cool.

Pinion nut real loose, can I tighten it back up for about 100 miles of driving? then rebuild?

The pinon nut on a differential? I would not operate it under power without at least a thorough inspection. It's not something to fck around with. If it jams while you are "just driving around town", the best case is it goes home on a hook. Worst case is it still goes home on a hook but with...

    700R4 Information Thread

This is a fun thread as well as mentally nutritious. I love learning the nuances of things, since I never got intimate with transmissions much like SRO. I still have the ASE Master cert from back in the day although I let my certs drop in '08, so I'm not going into any of this blind. Thanks...

Anyone used the old ash tray for something (else) that's interesting?

Thanks man. I went 31 years and retired from nicotine. It wasn't easy, but it most certainly was worthwhile. Two packs + a day is a lot of fools tax to be paying, especially at today's prices.

Anyone used the old ash tray for something (else) that's interesting?

I keep my retirement fund in my ash tray since it's been 14 years off cigarettes so far. I like the idea of turning the area into something useful.

Probably not a bad idea. Just lay power steering pump off to the side when time to pull engine off. Water pump can stay on.

Losing power assist when fluid warms up

Every county in Oregon except Lincoln, is under some level of heat warning/fire danger today. That seems unusual, but it's August, so.... there are a lot of new heat records today. PS systems statewide are suffering

Losing power assist when fluid warms up

Unfortunately for me, this is the level of questions my head rolls around in. Kinda like when the dog is rolling all over something stinky in a bog.

Losing power assist when fluid warms up

I notice that the flash point of power steering fluid is higher than atf. Which makes me wonder why a version of power steering fluid (hydraulic oil) isn't used in transmissions, from a flash point perspective?

Taking off passenger head about 37 bolts so far

I once worked for a guy who gave me some of the most profound advice concerning the repair of motor vehicles - if a man put it together, a man can take it apart. Yes, you can. But like anything in life, the quality varies. Folks here are trying to be helpful, but the best help is the kind you...
