absolutely. 70 or so amps powering a truck is fine until you add something that wants 30 amps all to itself. that said, there really is a voltage curve for mosfets. totally separate from amperage requirements. so 15v@10a could be the sweet spot as opposed to 12v@10a etc. the op may just...- WebMonkey

Custom alternator voltage
13.8v/stock alternator is the only way to go. if you need more voltage or to make sure you get the voltage you want, use a buck converter to output the voltage you want. i use one for my amateur radio system. it likes 13.8v (rather than exact 12v from the regulated block) for max output and so...- WebMonkey

Transfer case question
as stated above, full time 4wd ate more gas then being able to put the truck in 2wd. also a reduction in parts wear. so part time 4wd has benefits. the 'lo' range selector, as stated above, basically drops your traveling speed and raises your engine rpm at given speed. this allows you more...- WebMonkey

thanks for the advice & consolation. i guess i'm not as easy going as i used to be. things bother me a bit more than they should. definitely need to wait for warmer weather. now i just need to push/pull the truck to a 'long term' spot in the yard and maybe buy a weather cover for it? thanks...- WebMonkey

so i got some "go slow" goodies piled in the bed. the garage wasn't too cold so i thought i'd bolt something on and feel like i was making progress. i plumbed in the new carb, complete with new shiny vacuum blocking caps and a new return spring. cleaned up the routing of vacuum hoses...- WebMonkey

i drove one for years patrolling the west german/czechoslovakian border. np208 transfer case unfortunately, that's all i know :) at that time in my life, i drove them hard, then dropped them off at the motor pool for the smart guys to fix/prep them for the next patrol. lots of websites...- WebMonkey

Is my fuel pump wired wrong?
electric fuel pumps usually have a built in pressure switch. they immediately pump up the juice until it reaches 'pressure'. so, it may be just fine. my 2005 dodge fires up the pump without cranking the engine. my polaris 4 wheeler does as well. that's all the help i can give. sorry- WebMonkey

What have you done to your square lately??
it was cold out in the barn but i had new turn signal sockets from rockauto. my right front signal didn't work when the headlights were on. turning the headlights on also activated the right indicator bulb in the dash. i found 4 of those blue plastic clip on splicer devices going everywhere... -

after church i pulled the '85 k20 out of the 'barn' and hosed off the engine compartment. can't tell that i did (3 buckets of degreaser to boot). i got the bench seat out and pulled the old rubber?/vinyl? floor out. found all the surprise packages of rot that need attention. ;) -

parking brake cable help wanted
sorry i forgot to take a picture. 1985 k20 13" brake drums. does the armored parking brake cable 'lock' into the brake shield/plate or does it just pass through the hole without 'mounting'? my cables pass freely through the brake shield/plate hole. thanks for your help yet again.- WebMonkey

what is this interior cab area called?
so, i got the bench seat out of the '85 k20 today and ripped out the rubber?/vinyl? flooring. i knew there was rot and now i need to know what the 'vertical' area is called. is it footwell, that i'm looking for? or kick panel? not the floor pan, i'm pretty slow but i got that one figured...
