Finally broke down and bought a sandblaster, wanted a soda blaster, but went with what I know something about, lol. -
Change your throttle cable. Makes a big difference
Cable worked better on the furd, there is enough of a loop that even if I break another mount, throttle is still okay. Soon as I get my K30 put together, I can get the damn Ford out of here. Curious the same as Arkansas_v8 about what vibes you get if any.- 75Monza

Not to dampen enthusiasm, but I really don't like manual linkage. Little story to go with that, keep in mind, this has happened twice since I've had the truck. 7 years ago, I bought my '73 F250 highboy plow truck, manual linkage to the carb and for the clutch...hell, even the steering is manual...- 75Monza

Cluster interchange issues
Sweet, thanks for the pin out! I was looking at the back of a cluster with the tach and just noticed that there are separate wires to it. Was just going to do a tach on the column or dash, don't like the look though.- 75Monza

Used Edelbrock 1406 carb
Possibly a stupid question, but when you bolted carb back on the intake, before you tightened the bolts did you make sure the primary and secondary plates didn't hang on the gasket from closed to wide open?- 75Monza

Not sure if you put the wrong picture up, but that there is your basic GM HEI, fat cap with the coil on top. Aftermarket wires without the knobs on top to fit in the stock plastic hold down that is missing also.- 75Monza

No, you can make it work. Just my opinion that they are my least favorite carb to try to tune. Just curious, is the quad you rebuilt stock to your truck so that the jets, needles, and hanger are for your motor? Casting number isn't going to tell you if it's stock, the only way for that would be the info on the vin pad at the front of the block. What is best gas tank coating?
I ordered the strap pad kit for each too, not sure what it is made out of. If it's galvanized, I've heard people having trouble getting paint to stick very long, could be just the type of paint they are using. Hoping they are bare metal, much easier to paint. I do have a quart of cold...- 75Monza

Most likely someone in the past did have the distributor out and plopped it back either 180° out or a tooth or so out if they tried to line up distributor to wherever oil pump shaft landed at instead of moving oil pump shaft to match where distributor should be.
