I'd also suggest giving it a cleaning. You can use a spray-on engine cleaner and a garden hose. Leaking fluid migrates all over and makes it impossible to tell where it's coming from. It's also preferable to clean it before you do the service work Nick recommend so you don't get grit and crud...- Blue Ox

Funny, all these years and I had never seen the movie. The wife and I watched it for the first time on Groundhog day after we got back from Punxutawney. Apparently only a couple of thousand people used to show up to see Phil, but after the movie came out it ballooned to 30-40K people... -

The unholy Trinity of fluorescents. Tubes. Ballasts Starters. If you don't have the little silver shotgun cylinders, which are ancient, then put a fresh set of tubes in the fixture . If it doesn't fire up, do yourself a favor and just $#itcan the ballasts and rewire for 120VAC Bypass LEDs. -

Fuel supply, fuel supply, fuel supply. Everything I'm seeing there is low fuel pressure or air. As @ChuckN said dump the return into a bucket, or temporarily replace with a clear hose to observe bubbles. You shouldn't see more than champagne bubbles in it. I went through all of the variations with an ammeter and, again, the inductive load from the ballast transformer (magnetics or electronics) was responsible for most of the energy consumption. Changing the wattage of the florescent tubes made a trivial difference. Why you'd want all that extra... -

That's a good point. I marked my fixtures at the socket as 120VAC. Hopefully the next unfortunate will understand that. BTW, when I did my retrofits we compared ballast bypass with ballast compatible and florescent and the difference was significant. The lamps are a relatively minor cost... -

I rewired all our 8ft fixtures in the shop and office for ballast-less LED tubes from Home Depot about three years ago. When we were still operating full-time they were on 40+ hrs a week and they're still working great. Not the cheapest, but at the time I wasn't seeing any decent 8 ft... -

That's what I got it for too. Just getting the leaves and other lightweight fluff out of the garage. It's probably also useable for blowing the grass trimmings out of a flower bed or two, but it smokes the batteries in a couple of minutes. So, now I have an excuse to buy that giant-@$$ 1.21... -

I'm a huge non-fan of alternator outputs simply because there's so many ways for them the become inaccurate. Change a pulley, tach's wrong. What new tools have you got lately?
That's great for just strands, but I've got a fair amount of stuff that's pre-lit. I'm not tossing the garland and tree because of bad shunts or a few bulbs. -

Got this in November and I'm impressed. This thing has gotten a bunch of problematic light strands working. Yeah, I know, not as impressive as a plasma cutter or even a socket set. But it does make a no-fun job a lot easier. -
Glow plugs half work
It's been a while, but my recollection is that there's fusible link and connections all through the harness. So you may have to unwrap the whole thing and go through every bit of it. The black rubber cylinder is the connection, the fusible link is the wire itself. I wouldn't be squirting...- Blue Ox

My '69 455 is red, and I think in the '80s they were blue. The gold engines started out as an incentive program in the factory in the early '70s IIRC. If an engine scored perfectly in QC checks on the first try they'd paint it gold. At some point the public heard about it and everyone started...- Blue Ox
