    First major project vehicle!

Yes, to use up the old bodies and chassis. GM did the same thing with the 400/OBS series, when the 800/NBS truck debuted in 99. 1999 model year Burbs were built for a year and a half, and the Escalade, Denali and Tahoe Limited/Z71 were built in 99 and 2000 on the old bodies.

    Owners manuals for sale

I think I have both of the '77 manuals still. I know I still have the accessories brochure. I will look in the next few days; tomorrow is truck service day unless we get rain for too much of the daytime.

Twitchy steering with a big travel trailer (rear sway bar help?)

And I would figure a 2500 Burb would scale closer to 5500# but that's just me....my OBS C1500 Burb is around that much. I can haul the same load with it as I haul with the one ton Crew Cab, and it handles it fine(I know how to load Burb and trailer and I air the tires up some) but the one ton...

Twitchy steering with a big travel trailer (rear sway bar help?)

Do you have a weight distributing hitch on the trailer with sway control? On a trailer that long I'd definitely recommend it if you don't have it. Rear sway bar on the Burb will help but squares didn't have them except for the duallies. My OBS Burb has a factory reset sway bar and it does help...

    Let’s see your memorabilia?!

Try a little bit of rubbing alcohol on the overspray first. If that doesn't get it, maybe the model car paint enamel thinner (diluted toluene) might. Test on a not-obvious place first. I would try simple soap and warm water first, just to see if it does anything. Some house paints are water...

    72 Monte Carlo project

Back in the late 80s when I had mine(70 with 72 front clip) there was a company that was doing the MC hood in fiberglass with the L88 Corvette style scoop on it. Friend of my dad's had a 70 Chevelle wagon that was a small block, but a clone SS, with a steel hood with this scoop. His car got...

What have you done to your square lately??

I'm used to the Vortecs now, they have that one for the gauge and another one in the intake, below the thermostat, for the PCM. That one often acts up and then your truck runs rich.

Is that where the temperature sensor for the gauge goes?

Whip antenna for CB on a Suburban

Dad had a 23 channel CB in the 75 Sierra Classic, mounted under the dash over the transmission hump. Don't remember what kind of antenna other than he made a mount for it in the front left corner of the bed. When we got the 78 Sierra shop truck set up, he had something similar on it. We'd use...

    Finally got a running 65 C10

Should be a 14mm; I would think there is a special made tap/thread chaser for that. Do you have a well stocked parts store near you?

Leaking power steering fluid from Hydra boost unit.

Sounds like you should change the master cylinder and the hydro boost unit. I helped Dad replace the vacuum booster on our '90 R2500 Burb, was a good bit of work but it's easier to do with two people (one in the cab and one under the hood). When the hydro boost unit went out on my OBS Crew Cab...

Scores from DIY Parts Yards, Pull A Part, U Pull It etc

Do you know if anybody is reproducing the rubber rings that go around the pivoting map lights? Every console or dome/map light set I've seen has issues there...I mean they are 30+ years old by now right?

That's why I always have a spare set of keys in my pocket, besides the big ring on my belt .... been locked out too many times.

What have you done to your square lately??

I think they actually made them both ways. One I have is Cal Custom and it's probably from the 70s. It's going on an old truck I have (older than squares and definitely won't be stock when I'm done with it).

What have you done to your square lately??

Looks great! Did this air cleaner top have a drilled through hole? I have one we found at a swap meet decades ago that has a threaded hole for the carb stud. Of course you still have to trim the stud to fit....

    Reinforcing Door Striker

Dad made several of the "homemade" striker bushings, after we used up all the GM NORS ones we had from Curtis. They sold body hardware too, besides keys and locks. He also found a stick of Teflon rod at the plastic supply company, and made some out of that. I'll have to look in the cabinet he...

    Reinforcing Door Striker

It's behind the trim piece on the pillar inside; there is a hole in the pillar to reach your fingers into. The striker bolt threads into a steel block, and this block is what you'll be holding in place with your fingers. There is a size of plastic pipe that fits over the striker, I don't...
