    Finally got a running 65 C10

It was most commonly installed in 80's B and G body cars. Their dimensions are favorable to swap in place of a TH350 and I believe the old 3 speed manuals too. You just have to use the th400 frame holes for the trans crossmember.

What new tools have you got lately?

Awesome! Looks like it's a '72 unit. I really like the thing. Even with a cracked motor pivot bracket, it still works really well. I love how much up/down travel the drill chuck has too. The only downside is the table adjustment, there's no rack and pinion type adjustment like newer stuff has...

    EFI Return Line Size

I wonder if their return is biased more towards the truck tank, rather than the surge tank? If rail pressure returns to the surge tank, then it should just constantly recycle to the rail and the stock return line wouldn't see any additional flow. Assuming there's some type of float valve in the...

    Frame & undercarriage advise!

Imho for a driver, just keep it cleaned fairly often and hit it with spray paint, as needed. The heavier and stronger coatings tend to retain a lot of dirt and moisture when they inevitably gain some surface imperfections, which can cause major rust that could go unnoticed for a while. Then...

I'd just omit that bolt for now and make sure it runs how it's supposed to. It might not even leak, but there's only one way to find out.

    Summit Brand Headers???

A buddy of mine put the Summit brand big block headers on his C30 a couple or three years ago. They fit well and he has had no leaks out of them. He did use Remflex gaskets though, not the cheap paper ones.

That's too bad. I've got the 9.00 STA's on the front of my truck and I have found them to be an excellent tire. Still have my trusty old Power Kings on the rear. Maybe one day I'll find some NOS Power Kings, but likely not lol.

Has anyone done an L31 Vortec swap?

Holy crap! We ain't seen you around here in a coon's age! You even still have your original signature picture thing! Those are a relic of the internet past, lol. How have things been?

I didn't know that Coker bought them out. But, what do you mean about "only for static display"?

What have you done to your square lately??

I'm no garage door expert at all, but I think it's easier and safer to adjust the spring tension with the door all the way up and then pushed even farther open, to gain access. There is much less tension on the springs that way.

You shop for wheels in different places I guess. Yes, I know it's easy to figure out backspacing based off of rim width. However, the fact that it's easy is irrelevant when the other option (backspacing) involves no thought at all.

    Finally got a running 65 C10

Also, @DoubleDingo post is spot on. Personally, I'd likely seriously consider doing a basic refresh on the 283 and swap in some form of overdrive trans. Either that or build a very healthy small block and disguise it as a stock 283.

In the mean time, you can adjust the clearance between the shift levers at the end of the column and it's very simple. There's a collar that can rotate to take up the slack. That should take care of the shifter getting jammed. I believe that many column shifters have been abandoned simply...

When at the shop, a coworker once hacked up one of our nut/bolt cubby cabinets to get a full floater axle out.

Precision windshield gasket, self locking or lock strip?

When I did the one that was similar, the local glass shop gave me a little plastic "spoon" to help with the install. In combination with the soapy water solution I used, it seemed to help a bunch.

That's another good point. It seems that some brands include the width of the wheel lip in their offset calculation, while others do not.

Ok I think it's a combination of me not conveyed my thoughts good enough, as well as the fact that anywhere I've ever looked for wheels, the backspacing was listed as well. Often with no offset listing. Here's how I look at it: The allowable backspacing is known. Then I decide how wide I want...

There are still more bias plies available than that, you just gotta look around a bit. STA is one of the common ones. You are definitely correct about those 9.00 Power Kings though. There ain't NONE left anywhere.

    Tire/wheel recommendations

My only point was that the term "offset" is just a waste of time when searching for wheels. Backspacing is what is important. Let's just say OP is looking at all sorts of wheels, 16x7 through 17x11. The amount of allowable backspacing is a set distance, you can only go so far. So if searching...

So those stiff Rough Country springs will help with your goals. But a 35" on a 10 inch wide wheel with only a 4 inch lift is a tall order. A small block and street use might let you get away with little or no trimming. But if you have a big block or you do truck things with your truck, you're...
