    Thanks for the compliment…

Has anyone done an L31 Vortec swap?

Yup… L31 & 4L60e in an ‘80 K-10, I did my best to keep it factory looking and mostly GM parts. I’d say the biggest things to overcome were: A reflash on the ‘98 PCM for my L31 was going to cost way more than just swapping to a newer PCM and re-pinning the entire wiring harness. Updating the...

Help with rim purchase for lifted 78' K10

Uhhhh…. This is an assumption because I haven’t personally tried it but, you’ll be hard pressed to clear those 35” tires on only 4” of lift without some trimming

f/w junction block to fuse block

Good to hear everything is working now Wouldn’t hurt to take a look behind the connector…. But, I have to be honest if it was my daily driver I probably wouldn’t have the desire to mess with it if everything was working.

    Wiring Harness? Choosing one?

Unless your stock stuff has been burnt up or badly damaged, I recommend just tidying it up and staying stock. The GM harness and fuse box is every bit as quality as anything available on the aftermarket

    Which aftermarket LED headlights?

I went with the Holley retrobright in mine, for the cost I would have preferred a glass lens but mine are not likely to spend enough time in the sun to get opaque like so many of the new cars with plastic headlights. They appear very well built, have a nice pattern and color temperature, I...

    Electrical help identification.

Rather large lug, looks like the right size to ground to the back of the passenger side head… Just an educated guess though based on the size, that it’s covered in oil, and the length of the lead.

f/w junction block to fuse block

My first picture is the same as yours just out of the truck and cleaned up. That big section of wires is actually 3 separate connectors that snap together before you bolt the plug into the bulkhead. The 2 red 10 ga wires in your picture are the ones that supply the fuse box with power. My...

f/w junction block to fuse block

I wonder if your bulkhead connection is burned up… If I read your post correctly someone bypassed the bulkhead and ran an orange wire into the cab instead of through the fuse block? There should be two 10 ga wires routed from the junction on the firewall to the bulkhead connector, each should...

    POR 15 equivalents?

How is the rust situation where you're at? I'm a fan of epoxy paints for most chassis applications, its affordable, has good adhesion and is fairly chemical resistant. Another option for the air catalyzed "Rust inhibitor" paints is Rust Bullet.

    What gears

Its your money... 14 bolt for the front just to go camping on 35" tires is overkill. There are a ton of 6500 pound jeeps rock crawling on 37's with only D44's. Theres also a ton of the later model jeeps on 38's 39's and 40's that survive on pavement just fine, AKA Mall Crawlers

    Speaker pods/General stereo questions

I'm sure there is a way to test cables for RFI but I would just run what you got and accept that you may need to replace them

    Speaker pods/General stereo questions

^^^^ This Home theater patch cables often times do not have as much RF shielding which causes them to be slightly susceptible to RF ingress/egress. Other than the shielding most of the home stuff doesn't have as much insulation (padding) which may make them more susceptible to damage from...

    New from Cali

I can't remember where I found it exactly, but I printed a California BAR Engine Swap guideline book from the interwebs. It had loads of good info on what does and does not need to cross over during the swap process to meet the requirements of the state referee. I ended up using an ECM out of...

    Exhaust Question

What would a 19 year old @Ken B say to you if he had the chance? Save a few bucks or go buckwild… Dual 2.25” & a set of turbo mufflers sure do make a stock small block sound good

    K5 Blazer Shift Indicator

Have you programmed your GSS-3000 yet? Mine was a PIA, the arm on the sender was a little loose and caused an error every time I tried. Took me a few days to figure out.

Recommend Me a Reliable/Budget Serpentine Kit

General Motors… A serpentine set up from a GMT 400 (either the 88-95 or the 96-99) can be had for nearly no money from a wrecking yard. A little elbow grease and some paint they’ll be good as new. all of your components and belt are able to be replaced with commonly available parts. Here...

    Starter Wiring Issues

EDIT: @75gmck25 beat me to it My truck never had the wire to the coil like @Ricko1966 mentions, Dad tells me that’s a pre HEI thing. 1 heavy gauge from big lug on solenoid to battery 1 Purple 10 ga from ign. Switch to “S” 2 10 ga red wires to harness & alternator hook to the lug for the...

NP241-C, non VSS. Can I convert to VSS or no. No luck!!

Tail housing I would go for the kit @vr1967 recommended. I did a homemade version for free but already had the reluctor wheel and sensor and got my tail housing welded for free. That kit wasn’t available when I was trying to figure it out…

Period correct wheels for 86 K10 Stepside?

Front springs are definitely aftermarket, too many leafs and stock springs are nearly flat when the vehicle weight is on them. I can’t really tell much about the rear from the picture
