    Building a new brake system

From what I have read almost all of the combination valves available are junk, they all look identical to the one you linked above. Maybe the POL stuff is better IDK. I ordered this one from Summit racing and cant get it to stop leaking. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aaf-all41040

    Door Skin Sound Deadening

That is a great idea…. I was thinking about just wrapping a section of the rods with the kilmat

    Door Skin Sound Deadening

I used some stuff that came in a large roll, just lowered it down through the window slot while everything was disassembled. ETA: Then cut up my arms and hands trying to get in there to roll it out. Also, supposedly the first 60% of coverage does like 90% of the work, every bit of coverage...

    pinion yoke

Pattern gears and check backlash before you disassemble, if everything is in spec (or close to it) just put all the shims back where you found them and recheck after assembly. Unless you are replacing the ring and pinion try to just keep everything the same.

    pinion yoke

Nope... Once the crush collar has been crushed too far it needs to be replaced, besides the bearings need to be inspected and/or replaced since they have been cooked. In theory you could loosen the pinion nut and retighten to set preload but, the crush collar's job is to give the nut...

    pinion yoke

I'd bet broken centering pin is the most common cause... I saw one a while back that would shift how far it would dog leg while breaking and accelerating. It was scary to follow

    pinion yoke

If you over tightened the pinion nut the preload on the bearings can be too tight. There is a crush collar on most pinions that allows the nut to be tightened until the bearing preload is at the recommended spec. Most manuals will say the crush sleeve needs to be replaced every time but so...

    Mirror and Vent Windows

If I had it to do over I would’ve sent mine into Precision to get refurbished. Or at least ordered my parts directly from them, vent windows are a major PIA.

    Which Mirrors are BEST quality?

Sorry haven’t mounted them yet, should be ready for them by February though

    Which Mirrors are BEST quality?

I had the G van mirrors on mine, biggest issues with them is the wing window hits and they sit out of level slightly. I bought the LMC stainless ones for my resto

    Speaking of dash pads......

I considered the TMI stuff when I started my project, if they had some more conservative options I would still e considering them. All their stuff seems to have colored stitching, metal rivets or grommets, and the only cloth patterns are plaids

    Prep/paint metal dash recommendations???

I sprayed mine with 2K surfacer and sanded I'd bet that 2 of the rattle cans you chose will go down like surfacer and need to be sanded, the only "thin" one is the duplicolor

Need painting advice--Pre-primed plastic Bumper Cover

Refer to the technical data sheets for your paint, it should list all compatible additives like reducers, adhesion promoters, flexibilizers Etc.

    Wiring harness options

Rehabbing the factory stuff is definitely worth considering, the factory wire is real high quality stuff and you can get a lot of replacement harness plugs for the $700 an aftermarket kit goes for. I was planning on doing a kit in mine until I fished the harness out and took a good look at it...

Exhaust single to dual on a tight budget - Then we get into some after issues

I ran 2.25” Hooker Super Comp Turbo mufflers, dual exhaust with no cats and side exit just past the rear tires on my square for 10 years and loved them. Quieter than the average Flowmaster but still noticeably louder and deeper sounding than the stock v8 exhaust on the GMT400’s. I don’t...

    Dana 44?

Also, I'd recommend getting a yoke from a driveline shop, they're likely to have one in stock or can glance at yours and know what to order. Yokes are so dang expensive it would stink having to deal with mail order or online stores if you got the wrong one.

    Dana 44?

Yup, Corporate 10 bolt IIRC I used this pinion seal (below) but Summit wont show my order online https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tmk-8622/make/chevrolet/model/k10/year/1980

    Painting the gas tanks

These turned out great! I did mine in Argent Silver 2K Urethane, anything 2K should hold up to gasoline and other chemicals. I also agree with @Grit dog, the prep work is key for a quality and lasting finish.

    Horn recommendation

I ended up going with a Hela set from Summit Racing, they seem loud with a good authoritative tone

    Firewall Steering Column grommet

The firewall seal is the first part to go on the column when assembling…. The shift link tube is one of the very first parts to go in when assembling a column, right after you install the grommet. It’s a big job to do right
