Questions about '74 All Time 4wd, HELP

^ Yup. It's certainly worth crawling under it before handing over cash. $2000 is reasonable if runs and drives as good as claimed, even if there is some underbody rust. If it can make a 560 mile drive under it's own power, its certainly worth $3000. Probably worth having some detailed...

    Starter mounting on a 350

Thank you for clarifying that. My '85 never had a secondary starter brace, and I don't ever remember seeing one on my '84 either. My '70's GM cars with 10MT starters never had them either. Everyone else referencing the secondary brace started making me question myself.

Can you run a 700r4 WITHOUT electrical connection?

I vote yes, it will be fine, but I think you'll get mixed responses. I'm interested to hear what others have to say too. The electrical only controls the lock-up converter. Without it, the converter won't lock. No big deal. The only scenario where I could see a problem occurring is if your...

    Np203 part time conversion?

Very odd indeed... My '84 had 2.73's with a 700R4, and that was the combo from the factory.

235/75-15 is no problem on a 7" wide wheel. 31x10.5's will fit without issue as well.

door lock cylinder not working on passenger side

Assuming these are power locks? I don't have a sure solution, but something funny happens on my K10 sometimes that sounds related. If I try to unlock the passenger side door, via the lock switch on my driver's door, while someone is trying to open the locked passenger door, the whole lock...

    Tools for trip

Bring a spare ignition module. They seem to die at the most inopportune times and are much easier to travel with than alternators, fuel pumps, etc. If it fails, you're turck's not going anywhere under it's own power.

    Need help deciding

I'd go with the '87. It sounds like a better, more capable, truck IMO. I had a '76 Monte Carlo, and I REALLY disliked the stacked rectangular headlights when I first got the car. I much rather would've had a '73 - '75 with the single round headlights. Over time, the stacked lights really...

    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

A little off topic, but one of my friends turned me on to a similar mentality while on a trip a couple years ago. Adding an "anal" prefix or suffix to camper/RV models can yield some very laughable titles.

Scrapping Truck -- Parts To Keep?

I have to correct myself... It's not the Chevy vs. GMC steering wheels that were different in diameter. It's the 88 and up style steering wheels that were about an inch smaller in diameter than our factory steering wheels. That's what I gave my buddy last week. Please excuse my mistake. I...

Scrapping Truck -- Parts To Keep?

I've never heard of shortening a steering column. That's a new one to me.

Scrapping Truck -- Parts To Keep?

Keep the entire steering column. There's lots of parts/switches that can be used as future replacements. And there's no need to disassemble it beyond removing it from the truck. Prop it somewhere out of the way and it will come in handy. A friend just asked me for a smaller '88+ style...

Original 1970 one year only Camaro parts are a prime example. They bring crazy prices, and often times the parts need repairing.

I cant get my new engine to run smooth. Seems untunable.

Where'd the Qjet come from? If your carb change and fiddling are having incremental improvements, it seems like your on the right track (no mention of misfire, backfire, smoke, or stink). Any chance the carb's not as fresh as you remember it to be? I'm sure you have another one in your...

    Cracked windshield

@Camar068, what in the lower corner are you wanting to see? Plugged up pinch weld, cleaned up pinch weld, or installed gasket in the corner? Also, which side? I do have some other pictures, but I want to understand what you're asking for first.

    83 K20 for sale.

Thanks for inquiring. That's a little less than the $2K I was expecting, but still more than I think I could justify. If I keep thinking about it too long, I might follow up with a PM to ask a few additional questions. Your Craigslist posting is very thorough though. I've re-read it multiple...

    83 K20 for sale.

^^^Exactly this. I just don't have the means of doing it. My squares can't tow another square half way across country, and my buddies aren't that dedicated to these trucks. They think I'm a little crazy... Any guess what it'd cost to lug that beauty over the mountains to the Minneapolis...

    83 K20 for sale.

WOW! I read the whole Craigslist post and thought to myself, who can I get to drive down to Independence, MO with me? That's only a 6 or 7 hour drive. Then I realized it's in Independence, OR. That becomes over 24 hours on the road each way. Certainly a deal breaker for me. Good luck on the...

Fuel only gets to engine when tank is out of the vehicle

I'm honestly not sure if 2 minutes is enough to be running on fuel pulled from the tank. I would think it is, but I'm not confident in that. It seems odd that it fails to run when the tank is in the mounted position and it runs when the tank is on the ground. It just sounds like a kinked...

    Posi Traction

Your thinking isn't far off... I changed gears from 2.73 to 3.08 in a '76 Monte Carlo with a Target Master 305, and there was a noticeable change in acceleration. The car just drove better and I didn't lose any top end with the TH350 either. We also put a G80 locker in the 10 bolt rear end at...
