    How to switch from a DRW to a SRW in a 1981 K30 / 350 engine / 3 speed manual / 4x4

I ran my '84 without flares and just a single rear wheel. No issues. Didn't look too weird.

    Suburban Tailgate Window Switch

I didn't have a key for mine, but I still have the guts just in case. Now I'm really glad I have it. Ordered a keyed alike set from Jegs. $95 for the tailgate and both front doors.

Towing with my 86.... hints, tips, essentials?

Per the specs on the camper, 5500 pounds is max loaded weight. Specs say 4200 pounds wet, no cargo. Yeah, it'll tow different for sure. But the car on the trailer was tongue heavy, which makes for its own challenges. Properly loaded, I think it'd pull fine, especially at the speed limits in the...

Towing with my 86.... hints, tips, essentials?

My Camaro on a car trailer weighs over 5k pounds. I pull it with a C10 Suburban with 3/4 ton running gear and a 454 with TH400. I do have an external trans cooler. I had no real issues. Pulled a little over 300 miles round trip. And it gets HOT out here.

    Please help. 84 blazer

Just to see if your problem lies elsewhere or with the dizzy/wires/plugs, I would suggest running a wire directly from the battery to a standard 1/4" female spade and plugging it into the BAT spot on the dizzy. This will give it full 12v constant. You'll have to pull the wire to shut it down...

I've got one of the gray 5 drawer mechanics carts with the side table. Thing is awesome. Very well made. I've been pleased.

    Suburban Trans Pan removal help

I assume you mean the rear bolts? I don't think there's a crossmember anywhere near the front of the pan. If the crossmember that supports the trans at the tailshaft is what you're talking about, you can support the trans and just remove the crossmember. Kinda sucky for just a gasket job, but...

Review: Simple, stand alone GPS tracker

The downside of an airtag is if the thief has an iphone, they'll get a notification after a bit that there's an airtag following them.

Review: Simple, stand alone GPS tracker

The recent post about a stolen and chopped up truck, and the suggestion to add a tracker, made me want to post this. For the last five years, I've been using a device from a company called MoniMoto. https://monimoto.com/ I started out with a model MM6 (old and out of production) and now have...

Moog Ball Joint Boot Slipping Off

Once the spindle is on, the spindle keeps the boot down far enough. This seems to be really common on ball joints nowadays. Lots of vehicles I've done have been similar.

1986 sbc th350 ran dry on ATF :o

If you drop the pan, I suspect you’ll find the clutch material in the bottom. That will at least confirm it’s toast.

73 Blazer 350 spark plug stuck

To Rick you listen. I busted off an oil fitting inside of my Hughes built TH350, like two weekends before a big race. Couldn't get it out with anything. A greased left handed bit, go slow, remove the chips from the drill periodically and re-grease. Still running that trans. And an engine...

1986 sbc th350 ran dry on ATF :o

It could be. More likely it's your AC condenser. Check the passenger side of the radiator. There should be two hard lines going into the tank there. If there's nothing hooked up there, then you'd have an external cooler somewhere. Probably.

    Emissions question

AZ is different. Emissions personnel are all government employees. All testing facilities are government facilities. While the rules and testing are much less rigorous that California, they still have absolute authority and can really ruin your day.

So used to running external coolers I forgot! Definitely this too.

1986 sbc th350 ran dry on ATF :o

As Ricko says, if it's really not leaking anywhere, out the modulator is the only other place to go. A new modulator and vacuum line solves that. As far as the trans going into reverse, not uncommon when super low on fluid. Linkage issues can also keep it from engaging forward gears properly...

241c or stay with the np203

I beat the hell out of my NP203. And the only "issue" I ever had was shifting. She was sometimes stubborn to shift if you were already stuck. Sometimes I'd have to push on the t-case shifter and bump the trans back into drive. Always clunked in to place.

    Emissions question

Been driving and having emissions done on square bodies in Phoenix for 20 years. If your original emissions tag is there, they may look for the equipment. If it isn't they have no way of knowing. I haven't had an EGR on any of my trucks. I HAVE had them look for a PCV system. To get my '84 C30...

    Rotted cargo floor/rear floor pans

Looks like most of the main structure is intact, at least. Get in there with a wire wheel to see how far the cancer goes. Then make a butcher paper or cardboard template that's a decent bit oversized. Make replacement sheetmetal. Trace your replacement, cut out the old, weld in the new. I'm not...

Searching for My Dad's 1979 Chevy Suburban

Hah! My '78 C10 Silverado has almost all the same body dents. Good lookin' 'burb. Just on the surface, I'd ditch the hood pins and fix the exhaust. Get it where's it's a comfortable daily then do stuff incrementally so you can still enjoy it. I've had so many projects sit because they weren't...
