    I can't see very well but put a mirror on the back end of the intake manifold and check that out. It may be running down. If you can, spray the area off with brakekleen and blow it real clean with compressed air, it will give you a better idea from where it's coming from.

    Drive it some more, say 100 miles then drain it, see if there is any metallic shininess to the fluid, if there's not, you're good to go. Why was it low 3 qts in the first place, a leak?

    Amen on the fuses. If a link goes, it usually takes other wires with it and makes a melted mess! Plus, thet're hard to find. I've never had a problem on GM products, most Ford.

    Sounds like you figured it out for yourself, you'll be happy just spraying paint in the bed. I guess it's good to get a lot of opinions, helps you sort out everything.

    Dome light

    Trace the feed to the lamp. Mine is a '75 model, I don't know if yours is different but splice the feed to the lamp through the switch, on or off. The hardest part will be locating the feed.
