    Winch Mount

Ok…so the Craigslist bumper turned out to be a diamond plate backyard fab with no mounting brackets.. The more I look at what’s out there, the less impressed I am. The classic Warn bumper is probably the best thing I’ve seen so far. I’m tempted to buy some 1/4” plate and fab one up, simple...

Ain't that the truth! So after a Craigslist search I may have a line on a used winch bumper...the guy doesn't know what it came off of though..do were these made with vehicle specific bolt patterns to mount them up or did they have adapter brackets?? or ??

Yeah, I thought moving a winch around on a hitch would kind of be silly too.. I guess in looking at all the options the hidden mount is the way to go for me...oh and interestingly enough, Engineered Vintage has the brace question addressed on thier website already, haha.

I appreciate everyone's experience on this! What do you guys think about a front mount hitch/hitch mounted winch setup? Seems like that would increase the versatility of the winch a little?

Yep Redfish, exactly the reason I’m not drinking the koolaid on the hidden winch…it’s low and I don’t want to have to reach down through a bunch of gunk to use it when I need it

I appreciate the wisdom Redfish! I think the thought is that you hope you never need the winch- until you do?! I looked on the Engineered Vintage website and apparently they require you to purchase their product before they give you a code to watch the installation video, I'm assuming that...

So I already put a steering box gusset in (I had an '83 K5 that had the steering box peel off the frame going through Santa Monica mountains- not real fun), do you think these winch mounts are going to interfere with that? Also, I REALLY do not want to drill and holes in the frame, do these...

This one needs to go, asking for opinions. Offering it up here first.

And to summarize, do you still have this?!?? $5k is a bargain I would entertain..I didn’t see a model year for it? Am I missing something or you swap gears, remove the body lift, new springs/shocks, different wheels, fix a head gasket…then that 700- been on the bad end of those on occasion…ok...

Hey all! Finally getting my Suburban back from paint shop…I wasn’t sweating the guy because I had some other pressing issues and he essentially stored it for me for the last year but excited to get her put back together finally! I have a 12,000lb winch I want to put on the front but admittedly...

    Side Marker Gasket

Yeah...I have some self adhesive foam made for appliances I was going to use if I couldn't find something..just seemed weird everywhere else there is a gasket but not at this particular exterior light..

    Side Marker Gasket

I don't have it back yet to check, but it seems like at the very least the metal trim would be scratching the paint?

    Side Marker Gasket

Hey All! So the big dog is coming home from the paint shop (after almost a year, I didn't push it as I had other things to deal with) and I'm trying to get everything I need to put it back together. I got the full weatherstrip kit from Precision and the body guys got that going but I realized...

    Seat belts

I actually did not have that problem... there seem to be very few people wanting to give seatbelt advice, probably from a liability perspecitve which I understand, but I would assume you need to really get into the mechanism and find out whats going on..

    Suburban Interior Trim

I believe you are indeed correct! I went to the GM Heritage Center and looked up the specs for 1981 and 1984...the 84 sheet does spec out plastic and vinyl in the rear quarters of the Silverado, 81 does not. The other interesting thing is that the rear quarter windows had a significant amount...

    Suburban Interior Trim

Hey All! I'm picking back up my project as it should be back from the paint shop shortly (hopefully anyways) after being there since Oct 23! I wasn't in a hurry as I had a few other project to finish up. I went to the junkyard yesterday as they had a 1984 Chevy Suburban 2wd, barn doors (mine...

    Seat belts

Quick update...I still wasn't able to crack the code on getting these things apart so I pulled the belts out as far as thy could go, clamped them with a spring clamp and washed them in a tile mortar tub with some simple green. They came out awesome! With the buckles, I just shot them out with...

Hey All! I am waiting to get my Burb back from the paint shop and I have been trying to get all the interior pieces done up so they are ready to install. I am looking at the seat belts and have seen some great restorations on this an another site. One post showed a tutorial and what I think...

Hey All, I found some stuff from Chemical Guys I have been using on just about every plastic/rubber part I have put my hands on in the Burb and this stuff is as advertised..It's called VRP and I used it along with some spray wax and 0000 steel wool to clean up my fender emblems and I was...

    Speaker pods/General stereo questions

I bet...just looking at the draw of that amp I'm wondering if with the truck RUNNING it is going to be an issue?! Can I simply add another battery for the alternator to charge just for capacity or do I need to wire in relays/switches/etc?
