LED exterior light conversion! not going well :(

LED's are basically a computer circuit. None of the OEM parts on SB were designed for it. Any resistance not going to work.

How does this sort of thing happen????

same experience, and yes my crystal ball was cracked a long time ago. One of my employers gave way too much away. We got into it several times over free repairs. One that comes to mind was a complete front end rebuild on a 4x4 Dodge truck u-joints and all. He gave the entire job away because...

How does this sort of thing happen????

That's actually happened to me several times along with vehicles running out of gas either on road test or in the shop. It's very hard to deal with the public. Could never be a service writer [well actually I could] but would only last a week until I was arrested.

How does this sort of thing happen????

While I agree there are shops that may do questionable work. However it is not the norm, at least here. Have been in both the towing industry and repair for 30+ years. I know almost every shop owner in this area. After folks get a vehicle repaired they pay much more attention to details than...

New here , clutch slave master cylinder help.

Yes, clean fluid. I have found the fastest way to bleed those systems is reverse bleed. Remove all the fluid from master with a turkey baster, leave lid off. Using a new clean pump oil can filled with brake fluid and vacuum tubing attached open slave bleeder. Pump fluid in until master is...

    Loose timing chain replacement

If I had a cover laying around I would take a picture to show the modification. Easy to do. Front cover will be very hard / impossible to re-install without the modification or removing pan.

    Intake Manifold RTV Dry Times

Working in a shop setting, no time to wait on sealers. Have installed intakes with both regular automotive RTV and Right Stuff and sent them down the road in a couple hours, no issues. Important part is clean surfaces.

    Loose timing chain replacement

Hardest part will be reinstalling front cover. Will need to be modified for installation unless oil pan is removed. Corners of inner edge for front pan seal need to be ground down diagonally. Use a little RTV where the cover meets the block and pan. I generally use blue Locktite on cam bolts...

    AC Belt vibrations

There is a small bracket under the compressor that occasionally is left off. Will vibrate without it. Just looked at one mounted it's impossible to get a decent picture. May be someone can post an exploded view. Other possibilities are belt as previously mentioned, bad compressor, pressures...

    Chrome bumpers comparison ?

Front bumper from LMC has been on 2 years. No rusting but it has been in storage for 1/2 the time. Chrome wasn't great and material is thinner than original. If you want a nice bumper get the original redone and willing to pay up. Chrome plating here has always been expensive, now its crazy...

HIT THE IGN. KEY AND NOTHING

Neutral safety switch as suggested, loose or corroded connection, ignition switch, starter, battery or bad ground. Below will narrow it down. Need to do some diagnostics, with a helper turn key to start position and check for power on both S [inner purple lighter duty wire] and battery lug at...

    Computerized carb

Feedback carburetor with internal MC solenoid. Think they were only used one or 2 years on trucks. Cars were quite a bit earlier. Actually a decent unit but takes a couple inexpensive tools to set up properly.

    Fuel pump

It's possible to check for stuck metering rods by inserting a small screwdriver down into the bowl vent. When rod holder is lightly pushed down it should spring back. If not metering rods are stuck. Also, fuel pumps today are suspect. Partially from ethanol and usual poor quality. Check fuel...

    backfire under wide open throttle

If valve train issue is suspected [broken valve spring / flat cam] check vacuum. Very likely reading will be irregular. Weak coil is another possibility.

    backfire under wide open throttle

Did you adjust or check the secondary air valve spring? Depending on application about 3/4 to 7/8 spring wind up. Setting should be in the carb kit instructions. Fuel pressure and volume? Condition of fuel filter? This is just one area to start. Ignition or mechanical issues could create the...

LE9 305 ESC backfires through exhaust on deceleration

Yes, as a test could disable air pump for a short drive. Did you check exhaust with a load? Really doesn't take much of a leak to cause a backfire.

LE9 305 ESC backfires through exhaust on deceleration

Is the air pump diverter valve functioning? exhaust leaks? Most common cause is O2 entering exhaust causing unburnt fuel to ignite.

    Hydro brakes

From the factory generally hydroboost was used on higher GVW and diesel vehicles. I had a fleet of these trucks with both vacuum and hydroboost. If vacuum will work for the application that's what I prefer. Hydroboost is more expensive to repair. Adds several more components [hoses] and other...
