    700R4 Transmission Questions/Issues

I am not the 700R4 guru, but getting the throttle valve cable adjusted correctly is very important. Since you are running an aftermarket carburetor it might be harder set correctly. Geometry of the throttle linkage and the cable mounting distance may not be the same as the factory quad. This...

    Towing with an old truck

Well the most I towed with my '85 K10 Suburban when I had it, was a 28' Grady White sail boat on a twin axle trailer. No idea how heavy that rig was for sure, but a Google search, 6000-7000 lbs. The 350 with an auto trans pulled it.

    Free, you pick up.

This is so true. I had 4 stock wheels and tires from a '78 3/4 ton. Put them up on the corner with a for sale sign. A couple days later I came home from work they were gone. I though my wife sold them for me, no, someone ripped them.

1987 Suburban R10 emissions problem due to modified intake

If memory serves, the hydrocarbon limit for tailpipe analyzer was 200 PPM. Hard to find this info online now, as there has been so many changes. Pumped air injection [edit] Pumped air injection systems use a vane pump called the air pump, AIR pump, or colloquially "smog pump" turned by the...

Differential swap / bought it, work and install now

It is a shame your spring kit was incomplete. The orange/red spring on the forward shoe is bent, maybe the blue spring as well. That one is hard to see. This happens when the springs are removed incorrectly. Sometime in this truck part's life the spring was removed the wrong way, by by turning...

1987 Suburban R10 emissions problem due to modified intake

Yes, the A.I.R. pump plumbing is missing. HC would would be higher. With higher HC, the CO would also go up. This may not be all that is wrong.

Can anyone tell me what this is??

Okay, you convinced me. These should fit a Square. Top of the picture is a 4 pin plug for a 700R4 trans. Moving across the next row, brake light switch. Then a fuel RL ?? Then older brake light switch (I'll pull this out, won't fit a Square) Last row, PVC valve, wire plug (1/2"round,2pin)...

Can anyone tell me what this is??

Right, no one learns theory any more. Law of physics "Pressure applied on a confined fluid is equal and undiminished in every direction within the container" Okay class, for your homework assignment, who's law of physics is the statement?

Can anyone tell me what this is??

This control can be installed on a dual master cylinder. On a GM it needs to be installed in the rear brake circuit only. @PrairieDrifter I would rather have this type controller as opposed to an electronic POS that can burn out/fail without warning.

LE9 305 ESC backfires through exhaust on deceleration

Poor little 305 gets a bad wrap by many of the members here on this forum. Why, well it has 45 less cubic inches than it's bigger brother, the 350. What is this engine? It's an air pump. Bigger is better right? Well maybe not if you are trying for fuel economy and cleaner emissions. The...

What’s wrong with my axle tubes?

The easiest way to remove the axle bearings. Remove both axles. Long homemade drift. 1/2" or 5/8" round stock. From the opposite side, the drift through the housing and a couple hammer hits on the lower edge of the bearing. Then pry bar, hold the drift up and a couple hits on the top edge. Do...

Anyone running wipers bigger than 16" oem?

For me, I like the the original metal wiper blades. Use them for years and just buy refills. I guess parts houses don't even sell refills any more.

Anyone running wipers bigger than 16" oem?

So if you buy Anco blades first, when they are worn out you will still have the bayonet to j-hook adapters. Then buy your Clear Advantage blades.

What have you done to your square lately??

I won't hold that one Ford against you. One of my good friends is a 1962 Galaxie guy. He started with his grandfather's one owner '62. I don't hold the Fords against him either, but we sure do tease each other! He has several that he brought back from the grave. His current project is Hi-Po...
