    New Shocks

I replaced the old Rough Country Shocks out for Skyjackers. The RC shocks were over 10 years old they were a good shock. They were gas charged. They rode rough. IMO they are much better suited for off road use. The Skyjackers ride a bit smoother. They are a Hydro shock only. Thats the reason I...

    Deleting emissions,read this article.

Why are you worrying about this crap! You live in Kansas. I get the FED part of being legal. They are after the diesels and the companies selling the delete kits. If you go by a new car, or truck and remove all the pollution control equipment, and change the tuning. Then yes you will run the...

    Pulling all the smog stuff

Wow this topic has stirred up the natives. My old truck didn't have a cat on it when I bought it. I don't think my one truck will make much of a difference in the Houston area. One chemical plant or refinery puts out more **** in a day then all of us on this forum and our families will pollute...

1980 C10 backfires through carb under load

More than likely the carb mixture is lean. I would invest in a wide band O2 analyzer and go from there. I had to change the springs in my Dizzy. With the stock springs the truck would ping under throttle at low speeds. i put in a heavy and a light spring which cleared up the pinging. I bought a...

    Gauge cluster lighting, redux

I put in the blue LED's. They weren't much brighter than the old clear incandescent ones. I may try the white LED's. I could dig the green vibe. I've never been a fan of the red. It seems the old Japanese cars had red back in the 80's.

    Pulling all the smog stuff

What others have stated if it was a carb you can pull most of the smog junk. If it's TBI I wouldn't. You could remove the cat then you can remove the air pump . My 85 had a cat with an air pump, heat riser, EGR and EST. The cat was removed when I bought it along with the other junk. Being in...

    Engine Carbon Cleaning

Better run a catch can with that LS or it will build up crud. They send a bunch of oil to the top end when run hard that the engine will pull back in the intake.:)

    Head Light Bezels

I was wondering if the GMC and the Chevy bezels are the same. They look like it from the pics in the LMC catalog. I am thinking of buying the chrome ones for a 4 light GMC truck . I have a Chevy. I had painted mine black , but they are peeling and look like junk.

    Improve 1/8 mile et

Some easy tricks are running a short belt which only drives the water pump, or an under drive main pulley which slows down all the acc. You might try exhaust cut outs. A good torque convetor is usally worth a couple of tenths. I think your gearing is ok. Taking the tailgate off is an easy...

    79 K-10

I found a picture of my stepdad's 79. He had it set up for surf fishing. We would fish at Indian River inlet in DE. We also took some trips to NC and the Outter Banks. We fished for Blue fish and Speckled Trout. Fun times. I was 12 to 14 years old then.

    Rear Leaf Spring Bushings

I replaced the rear leaf spring bushings awhile back. :cool:Here are some pics of the job. I still need to do the front rear spring bushings. That looks like a difficult job to do with the springs still on the truck. I replaced the stock shackles with ORD and their greaseable bushings. On the...

    Say no to Cracks

I don't have an oil cooler on my truck. I did have to drill out the hole on the crossmember of the truck over size in order for the hole in the bracket to line up. Typical bolt on stuff. Nothing a large washer couldn't fix.

What new tools have you got lately?

I have worked with all different brand tools my whole life. I'm an Instrument /Electrician by trade. For electrical work Klien tools are the best hands down. Most of their tools are still made in the US. I have used Proto, Williams, SK,Ridgid , Channel lock, Snap On and others for the wrenching...
