I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Yep mine were like that. Didn't think twice about using them though and so far so good

    Old school roll/light bar

The one I sold @Swims350 was for a shortbed, and the one I have in my truck now is for a shortbed.

    FiTech Fuel Injection

I think he has to. It may be possible he needs a mechanical fuel pump that puts out more volume.

    FiTech Fuel Injection

I dont think you're the first to complain of this with the command center. I think it runs out of gas in the little tank and the pump sucks air. Likely why many go with the in-tank fuel pump option.

    FiTech Fuel Injection

Does the command center need a return line? If so dont use your vent line as a return. You may have to get a newer float assembly that has fuel, return and vent lines on the top. If it doesn't need a return line it sounds like your vent line is plugged, crimped or otherwise not working properly.

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Looks like a rear ring gear? Notice the bottom 3/4 inch or so looks heavily scored. Likely the torrington bearing disintegrated. I would inspect the output shaft as well.

    Dana 60 front axle toasted.

Probably have $550 in ring & pinion set and installation kit which includes all the bearings. The axle joints are not that expensive, $16-$20 each. If you don't know how to set up a ring & pinion and not confident in yourself to do it a good shop should charge around $300 If you have the axle...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Cleaned up the rear planet today, looks like the holes may have been a factory thing, or we had the same guy mod them in the exact same way... This one was pretty rusty but i got most of it off and the gears didn't want to spin at first but they did loosen up. If yours is ok i would just run...

Selling Steel Trusses - Value Ideas?

That's not a bad price. Works out to about 50 cents a pound if they're the 400# joists. Honestly though if it were me and I wanted em out of my way if someone countered 5 grand I'd take it as long as they're loading/hauling themselves.

    12 bolt regear with G80

DO NOT get the Motive Gear ring gear with the spacer. I sheared every bolt and pushed them through the diff cover. Lesson learned.

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Been working 10s and 12s but just dug one out of my parts bucket and put it in the parts washer. I'll clean it up this weekend and let you know if it's any good. I'll check on the other things too.

    my first bike

Nice trading, Chris! If I had never ridden before I would say this phase of my life is close to too late to try. Falling down off a motorcycle hurts a lot more now that it did back in the day. I used to have a Suzuki GS750 way back when, I traded a Toyota Tercel for it AND a 1961 Chevy C10. The...

    Help me identify a vibration

I think you have PTSD from grabbing that hot exhaust pipe. I'm not saying that can't be it, but I would do them last, it's not an easy chore. Have you tried taking loose the driveshaft from the pinion and check the pinion for any looseness?

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Wet/dry clutches won't make a difference, and if worse comes to worse I think they make steels in selectable thicknesses to dial it in. Having the clutch pack too tight is what's hard to work with. It's hard to see 1/10" on a ruler. Once the trans is warmed up to 150-250F you'll be lucky to have...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Hmm I'm not sure, 0.050-0.080 is stock spec, if the book is covering the additional clutch and calls for that spec I say go with that instead.
  17. crazy4offroad

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

0.050-0.080 is spec, if your measurement is exactly 0.050 you may want a little more. I've never seen that mod on the lo/reverse planet. If I had to guess those are slinger holes to shed excess residual oil, kinda like a crank wiper. It looks like a butcher job, it can't be very balanced with...

    Help me identify a vibration

The "vroom-vroom" vibration is typically always driveline, be it u-joints, pinion bearing, dent in the driveshaft, driveshaft weight fell off, trans output bearings, worn splines, worn slip yoke, etc. Next time you take a long-ish drive, say 20 miles or so, feel the diff cover and see if it's...

    Swap a th400 for sm465 worth it?

The 92-93 GM nv4500 has the granny 1st like the sm465, that's what I'd like to find.
  20. crazy4offroad

    Swap a th400 for sm465 worth it?

You wont find a "decent" deal on an nv4500, they are what they are. If it's cheap, it's likely broken, or missing parts. It might help you be a little bit ahead of the game by having the clutch pedal assembly but that's about it. If I were you I would just start accumulating parts for the nv4500...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Sorry I'm late. I dont think dual feed makes the shifts harsher, but makes them stronger. You're essentially doubling the potential apply pressure to the clutch pack. Dropping check balls will make the shifts harsher/more instant. I have a video somewhere that shows how to check the pump gears...

    Camshaft discussion

I get you, but at the same time if I had the cash I would have much rather had a roller cam. Any way you can reduce friction increases power. Given the choice I'd rather pull the intake to change lifters than pull the front of the engine, intake, radiator to do a cam swap.

    Camshaft discussion

If I could have afforded it I would have went roller with my cam choice, but flat tappet cams are just plain cheaper. But if they were so great modern engines would be running them but they're all roller.

    Prepping for 700r4 goodness

Yep I tripped out first time I saw a guy spray 4 cans of Pam cooking spray under his truck but the goop fell off like it was sliding off plastic sheeting.

    Prepping for 700r4 goodness

Here's another little tip I never knew but made sense after I heard about it, painting the transmission case hinders the transmission's ability to release heat. It's best to leave the aluminum case unpainted and if you go mudding like I do get under there and hose as much mud off as you can when...
