    New Guy, Cam Removal Timelapse

LOL I saw what was going to happen at the end way before I got there, from experience! Love time lapse videos, if I had one of me and pop when we rebuilt my engine there would be a lot of standing around telling jokes and drinking coffee.

    Transfer case help!!

Disconnect the rear d-shaft or put the rear up on jackstands, trans in neutral and try turning the rear output a little while trying to move the shift linkage. More than likely just 2 gears hitting faces instead of meshing.

Axle shaft help... will not seat

It's common practice to gain just a few thousandths clearance to make something go together easily. Done it before for a transmission input shaft into the fwd drum. I put the shaft in the freezer and drum in the oven on 200 degrees for a couple hours and suddenly something that's usually...

    Transmission Issue

Valve body is one of the biggest things that suffers when water is present. You might try dropping the vb and cleaning all the valves, springs and ports and make sure everything is moving freely. Depending how much water though, other internals could be rusted up pretty bad from sitting so long...

Cracked vortech heads on a "new" engine?

Damn that sucks. I always liked Edelbrock aftermarket components but all this is making me glad I went with a Weiand Stealth when I did the Vortec swap on mine. I cant say much about them either though I haven't got to drive the truck as much as you have to see if there's any real problems.

Cracked vortech heads on a "new" engine?

First thing that popped into my mind while reading it was, is it possible something like a heater hose fitting is being over-tightened when installed? Or the casting is very weak. I am dangerous with plastic and aluminum things so don't take the comment personally. I break fragile shit all the...

Post pics of your square with LED Bar

Saw a video a while back, this guy had an infrared led bar on his truck and NV goggles doing 60-70mph around a dirt road in complete darkness, pretty sick.

Np205 tranfer case stuck in 2 hi "won't shift.

Glad you got it figured out. Some things are really picky about the smallest details. I forget what I did but I broke the end off one of the little rods, something got bound and I tried to force it and snapped it. Put a replacement on and never had anymore trouble.

    Rear Spring Options????

Since you're running 3" lift you could get a shackle flip kit and 64" Blazer springs. It's a lot of hard work, cutting off the rivets and old rear hangers, and I think the front hangers would have to move a little too with the 64s, but 3/4 ton trucks have 56" which is what I have on mine and...

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

It's not the worst I've ever seen but I'm sure your idle air circuits weren't happy. The discoloration may actually be from ethanol-based gasoline dissolving any rubber fuel lines you may have in your fuel system. It looks more black than white/chalky.

    Back sliding glass window question

Only thing I hate about mine is if you have any leaves in the bed they will end up in the cab with you.

Np205 tranfer case stuck in 2 hi "won't shift.

Sometimes I have trouble with mine shifting in or out of 4WD even with the stock linkage. Usually I have to get it rolling just a few mph and bump the shifter. If it still wont shift I would have to assume your 208 linkage is not going to work. I would examine the spacing of the holes where the...

Cracked vortech heads on a "new" engine?

Good to hear an update on this. Hopefully they find an imperfection and not try to pass off the blame on the intake manifold gasket. Be sure to post back what you hear from them.

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

Yes they sure do. I'm looking to replace mine with a known good q-jet before long. Mine did great for a long time but like all things they wear out. Mine is in similar shape and I debated rebuilding it (which would have included the throttle shaft bushings, accelerator pump seal, gaskets, etc)...

New to forum and driveshaft angle ?

Rear angles should be fine, you likely have a slip yoke in the back of a NP208, you may end up needing it lengthened. Front angle is usually a bitch but I think with the longer TH400/NP208 combo the angle should be fine. If you run into problems you can get a front driveshaft from a 2005 Dodge...

    Need fueling help

I changed both sending units in dad's tanks last year, the "socks" on the pickup tubes looked like they were full of varnish. I'm sure there was some restriction there.

    Need fueling help

If original float assemblies the pick-up tube(s) could have a pin hole. I would replace all the rubber lines and blow out the hard lines. Use polypropylene fuel line line, as the new ethanol-gas deteriorates rubber.

3.08 to 4.10 first time swap

You can buy a "thick" gear set for the 3 series carrier, just don't get the Motive Gear ring & pinion with the spacer.

3.08 to 4.10 first time swap

The Dana 60 and 14b ff on my mud truck had spacers, it is the best way to go but I think it took more tries to get preload right. But there's nothing like tightening down that pinion nut all the way and preload is set. Only bad thing is as the bearings wear, if you had to tighten up the pinion...

3.08 to 4.10 first time swap

You'll need an impact wrench capable of at least 450 ft/lbs to crush the pinion crush sleeve when setting pinion bearing preload. Re-use your old nut when doing trial/error getting the pinion depth, that way the new one wont be gutted when you go to use it for final assembly since it is a lock...

    Square on the Interstate

I've been wanting to put an NV4500 in dad's truck and daily drive it. If it had air it would be a great candidate for daily driving duty.

    Gas tank parts

You can bypass the selector valve if you're eliminating one of the tanks, but with a 454 in that truck you'll be filling it a lot. I wouldn't throw any parts away that you might need to put the 2nd tank back.
