10 inches of lift and 37 inch tires sounds like a recipe for being deaf, much less some possibly sketchy road handling. I wish you well on your journey into the sky.
The only way I would do black on chrome, or do a black out is if you are doing it in a much lighter color, like grey, silver, white, blue, orange, or etc. There is a certain point with black paint it would look weird.
The best way to brighten and have a nice finish is to have them vapor blasted. The only finish you will find better for raw aluminum is freshly machined surface with a clear over it.
Numbers are rounded up for whatever reason. Don't ask me why. I guess maybe just to put people at ease. A Dana 44 comes out to like 4.090909, as does the 14 bolt corporate. Becuase there are digits after the 9 they just rounded it up to 4.10. The difference between 4.10 and 4.09 though would...
I'm sure along the way for some reason someone swapped it. Could have been an issue in delivery, maintenance issues, etc etc. I think the bummer for you is you will never know. The only upside is if you ever decide to lift and go with crossover steering you have the proper knuckle to machine...
Well, technically now days a 6.0 LS with a budget cam swap is a replacement for that displacement, and it will still net decent MPG's if you set it up right. The downside is the torque comes up top rather than off idle.
measure the pinion angle to the driveshaft and then measure the angel at the transmission to the driveshaft. They should be off set equally. If they arent then that is probably the issue at hand. If you have helper springs on it and the axle height has changed in the rear then at speed your...
Now days the most economical method is to just get one off a late model 2500 GM truck. They come with an LSD and disc brakes and you can buy a whole one in decent shape for a few hundred bucks. After that all you have to do is install the correct proportioning valve up front (for a disc x disc...
77 - 79 they had stock reserves that they continued to put into trucks. They bolted up the same ans shared the same bolt torque specs for the most part so I don't think they really ever made a big deal on the build sheets so while on the assembly line they just put whatever came down next on...
The output depends on what input it originally came with and what transmission was in front of it generally. I’m not aware of the scenario but maybe having a manual transmission can mess with that equation but as far as automatics go generally the 4l60 was a 27 spline and th400 or 4l80ebhadb32...
Best oil discussions are like asking about the best tire or putting nitrogen in your tires. Find a good quality brand that is affordable. I like synthetics and usually stick with Rotella because it's affordable and available most anywhere. I'm running an LS swap so I use whatever is...
The NP208 will need a 32 spline input shaft. I haven't looked but they are usually available about 80 bucks and pretty easy to change out but people have been reporting they are backordered, so YMMV. I think after that my understanding is that if you have a 4x4 6l80E then all you needs is the...
I'm just curious if your problem was having a lighted glove box why not just pop a brighter LED in the cab light? I put one in my K5 and it's bright enough to where I can see what is in the back of the rig behind the rear seat when necessary, much less what is in the glove box, and I don't even...
They key to painting the plastics is to make sure you do everything humanly possible to clean the heck out of it and get all grease and any crumbly parts off it. One thing I did a long time ago on my fist Jimmy was use simple green and water, then dry it, then I used some TSP and rinsed and...
I was wanting one but I ended up having a center piece off one of the warn winch bumbers. The end pieces were those stamped sheet metal pieces that got bent up but since the center is straight I am just going to build off it and use some chassis tubing and plate to make it modular to some...
Your original wheels were 15 inches, pretty sure the tires are not. I would venture to say though if your speedo is currently close to an indicated GPS speed and accurate then it's going to throw your speed off if you hook it up directly. Maybe check first and compare your speedo to GPS speed...
Motors for the windows will never really be fast. Unfortunately faster motors often lack the torque to move the windows when it comes to the OEM replacements. probably the best thing you can do is upgrade the wiring to carry more current, then take your regulators and windows out of the tracks...
