    77 K10 LS Swap

Very nice. I'll probably be doing my VA setup later this year or Spring next year. Goals for now are to get the floor pan on the K5 patched and coated then get all the wiring back in.

What is everyone's go to for converting rusty frames nice looking frames

If you have fresh metal from what I understand the best thing to do is use an etching primer and then do your rust preventive coatings unless they specify otherwise but I think POR is really just an encapsulator so it really doesn't get rid of stuff if you have a lot of flaky scale. There are...

    Fuel pump for LS Swap

I think at a certain year the connectors changed but I am not sure what the break-off is but I think it is when the 89, 90 and 91 models were introduced. I notice also that the connectors on the tailgate were different. They went from a rubber coated plug to a GM weatherpack type. Small...

    Trans Cross Member Orientation

When I installed mine I went with the oval towards the drivers side. I can not recall how I came to that conclusion but I think it was because when I bought it that is how it was already oriented when it came off the truck I bought it from. I've included a photo that the guy sent me before...

Yes, people have reported issues with them because there are a lot of chinese knockoffs across all brands.

C&C swap from 14bolt rear headaches

Sounds like I'd just stick with a single rear tire as much pain in the ass as this is generating for you... That or just go get you some super singles and big wheel it.

    Any one running a 4L85?

Also, you need to ensure your Tcase has a 32 spline input shaft

    Any one running a 4L85?

If you want to go 4l80 (or 4l85 whatever) you will need a W x-member and a North west fabs 6 bolt adapter for your tcase. I have been told that you can use the original 4l80E T-case adapter but I have yet to have the pieces in my shop to test the waters. (It's a WIP) It's commonly known if...

    Fuel pump for LS Swap

I would recommend calling fuelpumps.net and get a verified fuel pump from them for your original donor vehicle application. Just let them know its for an LS swap so they don't try to sell you the whole sending unit assembly. Chinese knock-offs for LS fuel pumps are rampant and FP.net sells a...

    K5 easy top removal

Half hour? You need to get a battery powered ratchet. It takes me about 5 minutes to take all the bolts off mine now days and that includes climbing around all the junk I have stored in it right now because it isn't running.

    Threaded studs issue...

The first question I would ask is are you using the right lug nuts with your wheels and if you have aluminum wheels that are really thick do you have studs that are longer and are your lug nuts bottoming out? Just a little food for thought.

    K5 easy top removal

When I was younger I frequently took mine off and put it on by myself but I'm not as strong as I used to be so what I am in the process of making is an attachment made of some lumber that will attach to my engine hoist, and then I can just wheel it through the back window, pump it up with the...

    700r or 4l80e?

I would go with a 4l80E and FWIW you can take a Ls truck PCM and adapt it as the stand alone trans controller, the complicated factor is that you will need to add the appropriate range of sensors to allow the PCM to get feedback to tell the transmission when to shift and control all the line...

    Transmission crossmember spacers

My better option was to get shorter bolts that are a stronger bolt and eliminate one more thing hanging down that can catch on anything. The reason for them was to allow the length of the bolt to provide greater strength across the greater length of the bolt (or at least as it was explained to...

Where have you put oil and temp gauges, pics please.

I'm starting off with the factory Burb gauges since I am doing the LS swap but at some point I may choose to upgrade but what I will probably do for a short time is have a separate oil and water temp gauge mounted on one of those 2 gauge things down below the ashtray just until I can be sure...

It's a great day, no more POS Sniper!

Any carb is sensitive to air intake changes vs burn rate. You have to have the mindset that you can't just change your intake and exhaust without jetting the carb. Small things done from one end of the truck to the next make a wide impact.

Rear disc brakes on the cheap

Just to point out, make sure before you start spending money and doing work that your state does not have an inspection process that requires you have E-brakes on the wheel. From what I have seen I am thinking Pennsylvania has a road worthiness test and that might be on the check list.

    Dead in the water.

Intake leaks are the perfect excuse to upgrade that intake and carb and then you are just a stones throw away from a cam and new water pump. Consider it preventative maintenance.

Where have you put oil and temp gauges, pics please.

Almost as if they were were made to go there, lol!!!! You know the only thing I ever read is that having them flat on the bezel makes them a little harder to read while driving. Any feedback on that? I've been fine with the idea of stock gauges and if I really want a tach I was just going to...
