mine is an 84 short bed that came with an 833 4 speed. I have a 427 with about 500 hp and torque. and it is a joy to drive. 373 geared rear end. if you can find one. comes with a Hurst shifter that you will need. and it doesn't like to be speed shifted. about a 9 inch throw from 1st to 2nd. but...- malibuman402

BBC Clam Shells
My 84 came with a 305 and i used the same mounts and clamshells to install my 427 big block. make sure the tabs in the mounts are pointing in the correct direction. had to remove the eng to turn one around. LOL- malibuman402

350 and 4 speed manual removal
don't remove the hood. remove the core support and the bumper, that's how I have done it. remove the grill, headlight bezels and wire harness from the core support, then the core support, loosen the 2 bolts on the backside of each fender well and the 1 bolt on top of the fender by the hinge...- malibuman402

Welcome from NC. if its a NP833 with a hurst shifter it is rare. no production numbers are available. RPO code MM7 or MY6. my 84 C10 has one, RPO code MM7. it has close to the same gear ratios as a 700R4. 4th gear is a .73 OD.- malibuman402

BBC swap in my k20
i did a small block to big block swap and used the small block mounts, fits good. just bolted the small block mounts to the big block and put the motor in.- malibuman402

454 Timing
I would suggest 8-12 degrees BTDC with the vacume advance disconnected. then reconnect and take it for a ride.- malibuman402

454 headers question
i have a 427 bbc in my 84 and the headers i run are patriot mid length headers for a 70-72 chevelle, with 1 and 7/8 primary tubes. i bought them from JEGS or summit in 2002 and there still in good shape. i think the part number is 8013. check them out.- malibuman402
