Drilling Holes in a Plastic Gauge Cluster Crystal?

I did this to my truck. The clock fit in just fine. Like factory. What Year/Models Did These Gauge Clusters Originally Come In?

You can put a clock in it. All you have to do is hole saw out the back. Make sure you have the clock first so you'll know what size hole saw to use. Then will have to drill a small hole for the clock stem in the clear face plate.

Who's worked with lead vs bondo?

You're probably going to have to use some type of acid to clean that metal with. Probably the type used in batteries. Try acid core solder as well.

    My new acquisition

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. Had a 66 Ford back when I was a kid. Found out about that regulator quite by accident. Future BIL and I were working on the truck as it had a no start issue. I was messing with the starter switch and he with the regulator/solenoid and it fired. Scared the heck...

    My new acquisition

First thing I'd do is replace that starter regulator that mounted on passenger inner fender. And once you get old one removed, sand all the rust off to get a good ground. Causes all kind of wiring issues.
