What have you done to your square lately??

Dear Diary: Today I learned what a deck of cards was really made for. Not sure what other people use them for though.

    Let’s see your memorabilia?!

A few other items of interest. The Dremel Moto Tool display I picked up from the wife’s uncle years ago. Not sure what it dates to but it’s cool. Bought the Snap On commemorative tool box when it came out for the Mustang 30 year anniversary. I was big into Mustangs back then and had a 1969 Boss...

    Garage upgrade

I mentioned the thread here regarding messing with garage door springs to the guy installing my opener. Great guy BTW, veteran, family business. Anyway he told me of a newbie who went after a spring with a short ratchet wrench versus a long bar. Thing wrapped his arm around the shaft a couple...

    Garage upgrade

Been manually lifting the 12 x 12 shop door and pulling a rope to close it for 10 years or so. Kinda a PITA coming and going but I was too cheap to pay for a door opener just for convenience as physically I had no problem raising and lowering it. Then last weekend we pulled up in the Blazer and...

What have you done to your square lately??

Had a couple custom T-Shirts made on Etsy to wear at shows and Cruise Ins. Pretty reasonable, design was like $8 and shirts were $16 each. They did a good job of rendering my Blazer!

That would look awesome with a factory style air cleaner with a “455 Rocket” decal!

Original bucket seat cover replacements? 1977 truck

My front bucket seats do have the plastic back covers that on them. They are covered in vinyl, which may be original. I’ll be getting them recovered as they do have some tears.

Frost bite radiator & electric fan???

When I bought my Blazer it had a new aluminum Summit radiator and maintained the factory shroud and fan. The radiator started leaking within a month or two. I took it out with the plan to dye penetrant check the welds but ended up not needing to as the cracked welds were obvious. I replaced it...

What new tools have you got lately?

A better option is to pack the tubing with salt, not sand. Tape one end closed, fill the tube with salt and tape that end closed. After bending, take the tape off and knock the salt out. I had to soak mine in water to dissolve the salt packed into bends, then blew the lines out with air...

What have you done to your square lately??

It’s a power distribution box I mounted for the fuel pump and fan circuits. Also ran a heavy cable directly from the alternator for charging. (Maintained the existing wire from alternator to the factory distribution box on the firewall.) I tabbed a plastic cover for it and attached the cover...

What have you done to your square lately??

Your post reminded me of the car show last Saturday. I had my 75 Blazer entered (top removed) and 3 different people asked me if it was hard cutting the top off my truck.:superhack:

    Let’s see your memorabilia?!

This is actually my daily watch. It’s an Elgin, manufactured in Illinois during WWII and issued by the War Department, hence the Ordinance Dept stamping on the cover. The dial is painted with radium for night viewing and take it from a retired nuclear worker, it will send a frisker (aka Geiger...

    Let’s see your memorabilia?!

This is my late father’s Hamilton Railroad watch, which he had when he worked for the railroad (where he met my mother). These were special watches issued by the railroad and routinely calibrated to keep all railroad employees synchronized to prevent accidents. It works perfectly and I...

A Technical Comedy [Only After the Fact]

Too funny! Glad you got it shutdown. Reminds me of watching that old movie “The China Syndrome”. As a retired engineer in the nuclear power industry the movie was mostly a comedy, especially when these guys did all kind of mods and bypasses and such as they struggled to trip the reactor when...

Stock fuel pump has a vent line. Edelbrock don’t.

It has worked without any problems since I installed it last summer. I have no idea what the flow rate is in the return line. During installation I briefly ran the engine and verified flow but that was it. The filter is fed by an electric Holley pump mounted back at the tank. It feeds an...
