Tank strap issue
Entirely possible that the tanks aren't perfect, but I remember when I installed a new tank on the driver's side of mine that I had to leave the straps started, but loose on the tank while trying to get it into position before starting the bolts on one bracket and adjusting where the straps sat...- SlickGTP

Pulled her out of the garage, tuned her up a bit, and finally hooked up the adj vacuum advance. She's running pretty good, but now I need to lean her out a bit and adjust the springs in the distributor. Then revisit the vacuum advance again... -

Unless they were telling him that it was steel braided hose, but it would still be rubber from the frame to the caliper, just wrapped in steel braid. I had a similar issue awhile back and it was the rubber line from the frame to the caliper.- SlickGTP

Mine was doing that due to some really old fuel lines that had split on the vent side of things... I'd start by looking at all the lines which probably means dropping the tank unfortunately. Hot damn... I wonder how good the passenger inner/outer fender and front doors are. Not sure when I'd be able to make it down there. Too many chores and family activities for me to make it in the next week or two. -

I did mine years ago... Still going strong. Rebuilt the power booster and several other items on the old girl with the idea of saving a little money and learning how the different systems on the truck work. I think the steering box was the most anxiety inducing as if you get it wrong the... -
Muffler recommendations
I like my Magnaflows for similar reasons of carfanatic63... Every once in awhile, I think of getting slightly longer ones to tamp it down a bit more, but then I think it's more about insulating the cab and getting that settled. :) Here's a video of mine from awhile back:- SlickGTP

Recently figured out why I kept blowing the fuse for the high blower speed(wrong size fuse) and then had the fan speed selection go completely dead on me the next time or two I took the truck out. Figured I had blown some other fifty year old component out and was prepared to start buying parts... -

Haven't done much in awhile except install the correctly sized fuse for the High Blower Setting... I kept wondering why I was blowing the 15amp fuse only to find out from other threads that I had undersized it substantially. Now I start dreaming of A/C, Stereo, and all the other things that... -

Oops. Probably shouldn't have done that.
If you only have one tank installed, you could just eliminate the solenoid and just install hoses from the existing tank to the fuel lines going up to the pump. Minimizes failure points and simplifies life on the whole. I went the other route and installed a factory aux tank and complicated my...- SlickGTP

Replace old pump or keep it?
I've rebuilt the pump, hydroboost, and steering box on mine. They aren't hard, you just have to pay attention to the details. I think the steering box was the scariest out of the bunch since if you mess that up you could lock up your steering mid turn. I tested the crap out of it before I...- SlickGTP

73 cheyenne super 10 advice with a terrible engine swap.
You need to plug that large vacuum port on the front of the carburetor and I would go for one of the thick carb to intake gaskets. They're about a 1/4" thick or so and would help to keep the carb from heating up too much. Something like this...- SlickGTP
