    Super T10 vs M20/M21

Hello Everyone, here’s the update: The Super T10 has a speedometer port bore like an M21 or TH350 at 0.875. I did not order the $80 B&M part as I was looking at 2-4 week lead times to get one to Canada, instead I spent $20 and ordered this no-name aluminum one from Amazon. I went to go install...

Thanks to everyone for their input, I am going to order the B&M item that I posted and I will updated this thread with the fitment. Thanks again!

    Super T10 vs M20/M21

Hey Folks, As some might remember I swapped in a Super T10 into my truck and I believe it came out of a 78' Trans Am. I am looking to delete the speedo cable but I am having trouble finding a speedometer port plug that is specific to the Super T10. I have found some on Ebay that are specific...

    Rear Side Markers

Thank you for clearing this up, I just swapped the power feed to the brown wire and it’s all finished up now. Much appreciated!

    Rear Side Markers

Thank you - my understanding is that it is not a signal light, it is only a running light then.

    Rear Side Markers

Or is it that the side marker light was never supposed to run as a running light? According to this diagram for 73-76 stepside models it only appears to be hooked up to the signal power…and not any running light power. Or is it vice versa? Am I reading this right?

    Rear Side Markers

Hello Everyone, The stepside box I picked up for my truck has the rear marker lights in the fender. I bought new side markers and new sockets to go with it. I’ve spliced the side marker power into the marker light wire (yellow-18) on the factory harness but my issue is that it does not run as...

    Lockstrip Question

Thanks a bunch, I was thinking the same thing. Guess I needed someone else’s assurance.

    Lockstrip Question

Hi All, Just finished installing a new windshield in my truck. Everything went great until I got to putting in the lockstrip joint clip at the end. No matter what I did I couldn’t get it to pop in the channel in the rubber, ended up mangling the clip to the point it’s unusable. Is this...

Fuel line too close to exhaust

Hey everyone, finished it up. Was helping my buddy fix his truck outside of his dad’s fab shop, he whipped me up a heat shield. I welded some nuts on it so it’s an easy re and re when I have to replace the filter. I got an aluminum 100 micron filter from Earls and swapped it in, then I covered...

Fuel line too close to exhaust

We use a b@stard system of metric and standard in Canada. “You’re looking for the gas station? Yeah it’s about half a kilometer up the road then take a right about 50 feet after the mailboxes”

Fuel line too close to exhaust

Impressive write-up, thank you very much for the info. I’m going to save your comment, can’t ever have too much advice when it comes to hotrod tips and tricks.

Fuel line too close to exhaust

I’m going to get some aluminum sheet from princess auto and do exactly that, there’s already two holes on the bottom of the frame so it should work perfectly.

Fuel line too close to exhaust

I know this isn’t the proper thread…but since you asked for it . I bought the truck 7 years ago for $500, it was a rust bucket but it had a good frame and good papers. Swapped the V6 and th350 out for a 383 and a Super T10 that I pulled from a 78’ trans am and put a belltech 5/7 lowering kit on...

Fuel line too close to exhaust

It's a Mr. Gasket P95 pump, the installation manual recommended a 30 micron filter between the tank and pump and so I got a cheapo NAPA one. I'll swap it out for a metal one as I think the plastic one would be prone to melting or getting brittle from the heat.

Sad Sack nailed it, 383. Technically a 385 as it's bored .40 over.

Fuel line too close to exhaust

Thanks everyone for your insight, I think I’m going to replace the plastic filter with a metal one, insulate the lines and filter and I’ll zapstrap the line and filter to the inside of the frame rail to get it further away from the muffler. I was thinking about heat wrapping the muffler too as...

Fuel line too close to exhaust

Hello Everyone, I’ve just finished running the feed line from the tank to the electric pump that I have installed on the passenger side frame rail. As you can see by the picture, the fuel filter is pretty close to the muffler (about 1.5”). Could I replace the plastic filter with a metal one...

    Red Oxide Primer

Denis71, Thank you for the photos, your squarebody looks great. The reason I wanted to shy away from red is because here in Canada, especially in the town where I live, the RCMP love any excuse to hammer down on hotrods and I think red just makes my heat score of a truck even more of a heat...

    Red Oxide Primer

Fat 454, thank you for the insight it has been very helpful. I think I am overthinking it and I will just go with a darker tremclad top coat, thin it with mineral spirits like I did the primer, and give it a few coats and call it a day. To the others that replied, does applying a hardener just...

    Red Oxide Primer

Grit Dog, That’s a fair point and thanks for the input. I didn’t rattle can it though, I used an LVLP sprayer and reduced the primer 4:1 with mineral spirits but I understand it’s basically the same thing. I did tons of rust repair (cab corners, rockers, hood, fender, driver side door) but it...

    Red Oxide Primer

Thank you for the replies. For more context - before I primered it I sanded the whole truck and finished with 220 and then 320 by hand. There’s two coats of tremclad red oxide on it now, I would like to give it 2 coats of grey primer like I mentioned before. Perhaps my best bet is to just buy...

    Red Oxide Primer

Hello Everyone, I’m in the final stages of the bodywork/paint for my truck. I’ve painted the whole front clip/cab/box in the Tremclad red oxide rust primer. It came out great! However, I’ve decided to go with a different (lighter) topcoat colour and so I’d like to give it a prime coat in grey...

    Converting Diesel Wiring to Gas

Thank you both...it seems that the previous owner had already removed a fair amount of the diesel wiring and I've spent the last week pulling the rest out. Wow...I can't believe how much cleaner it is under the dash with all that extra copper pulled out. I'll probably put what I pulled out up...

    Converting Diesel Wiring to Gas

Hello Everyone, The cab on my truck is from an 83’ diesel that was originally ordered for the Canadian Army. The cab now sits on a lowered shortbox chassis with a 383 and a super t-10. The original wiring harness has a few extra runs of wiring that I do not recognize which I believe are to...
