We used to use grease packed in the hole & a bolt way back when. Just don't get carried away with the hammer. This guy has a cleaner idea, no matter how silly it seems.- CoggedBelt75

Aux fuel filter location?? Heat?
FWIW, my main filter is located under the passenger seat on the outside of the frame rail between the tank and pump. Secondary filter is mounted on blower case in front of head. Lots of heat but no issues.- CoggedBelt75

You can also note that a 153 tooth flexplate always uses the straight bolt pattern starter, and the 168 tooth flexplate uses a angle bolt pattern starter.- CoggedBelt75

Guess I’m confused now. The engine had a standard transmission behind it. Now you want to put an auto in it’s place. The picture shown would be a flywheel, which is different from a flex plate used with an auto. So if you tell the guy you need a 168 tooth flywheel for a sbc, then it won’t work...- CoggedBelt75

Adjustment screws not working?
IMO, you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Is the reason you say you haven’t any is because you verified there are none by spraying carb cleaner around the base of the carb and all gasket mated surfaces? 100% certain all vacuum lines are in the right place? Here’s a cheap trick you might try. Fill a spray bottle with water and find a dimly lit place or wait till it’s almost dark but can still see. Start it up and spray the plug wires real good. Retired the dinky A/F gauge I’ve had forever and picked up 2 Harbor Freight 4” gauges. Much more convenient on each carb vs swapping back and forth. Always has been a rough guess getting both carbs throttle blades set the same so they were inhaling the same amount of air. Got a Uni-sync and...- CoggedBelt75
