455 Olds not lining up well in 76 GMC crew....

That would be correct, and what I have been searching for is the 350 Olds Diesel mounts that were in the GM trucks, 78 to 82 or something?? Anyhow, it would have been a drop in. Granted with my adapter plate I may have had to make a minor tweak such as drilling holes in a different spot, but not...

455 Olds not lining up well in 76 GMC crew....

@Raider L I bought these frame to engine mounts from Summit, maybe I should've gone with a clamshell style??... I think as another person mentioned I will just get the mounts off the engine, bolt up the trans and then see what I have to work with. I also like the idea that @75Monza threw out...

455 Olds not lining up well in 76 GMC crew....

@cstew47 I too love the Oldsmobile's! Their engines have such a distinct sound. Even my 80 Olds 2-door 88 I used to own with the 307 & dual exhaust had a grumble of its own. A better grumble after I threw in a rebuilt 350 Olds Rocket. I found this truck with no engine, and I had this 455...

455 Olds not lining up well in 76 GMC crew....

@bucket what I meant was 6 inches down to line up trans...I should have mentioned that.

455 Olds not lining up well in 76 GMC crew....

@Blue Ox unfortunately even a BPO trans would not help this situation as the trans would still be sitting in the same spot. I though the same too as I do have a long shaft Olds 400 that needs to be rebuilt. @Turbo4whl Yes I can move the engine back further, and the trans is bolted to the...

455 Olds not lining up well in 76 GMC crew....

Hey there gent's, I need some advice on this here issue. I finally got to the point of dropping in the engine to see what needs to be done to get it mounted up. I bought some frame to engine mounts from summit racing that looked like they "should" work, this was just a shot in the dark. As...

    '76 GMC 1 ton (454) radiator???

What modifications did you have to do on the upper/lower radiator mounts? I am not too concerned about modifying things within reason. My entire engine bay is still open with no engine, so I have plenty of room to make things right the first time. I would rather put some sweat labor into...

    '76 GMC 1 ton (454) radiator???

Well I am to the point now I need to get one of these here and I took your advice and I gave a shout to the local yard I buy a lot of stuff from, they have a nice 4-core radiator from a '97 3/4 ton Chevy truck. They also have a 2009 Silverado dual electric fan too, he said one fan has 5 blades...

What have you done to your square lately??

My dear friend, it is called OCVSD....obsessive compulsive vintage snowmobile disorder. It all started as a kid, riding with dad on his 71 Polaris, at 8 he bought me one just like his for $50. I have his, my grandmother's (his mom), mine my dad got me and a SnoJet like my mom drove when I...

What have you done to your square lately??

I had to order more stuff tonight because I ordered the WRONG engine to trans adapter. I ordered a Chebby engine to Olds trans adapter & need the Olds engine to Chebby trans adapter...

What have you done to your square lately??

The air cleaner is done, harmonic balancer torqued down. Valve covers aint pretty (some minor dents), but it doesn't matter because the pair of 1955 Olds Rocket ones will be going on at another time...

What have you done to your square lately??

Rebuilt the carb and put in new carb base/adapter gaskets, doing minor bodywork on air cleaner (came with minor dent and bad paint blemishes, will also paint blue), installed harmonic balancer and now working on and painting pulleys.

    1981 k30 crew cab dually

Welcome Kendall!!! Beautiful truck you have there, they sure are fun. Can be some work, but a LOT of fun! I learned early on from fellow Hot Rodders when I was doing my first hot rod (51 Ford Truck), that get all the mechanical stuff in safe working condition. Cosmetic stuff can come later...

What have you done to your square lately??

What are they asking for it? There is a 77 Burb locally for sale, looks rust free, 454 & TH400 trans, 2WD with barn doors (which I dislike), and they are asking $2,500 for it. I would love to get it, but don't want the wrath of my wife coming down on me!

What have you done to your square lately??

What does the interior look like? I would tackle the hell outta that!!!! I LOVE suburbans! I am still searching for my dad's 78 2WD trailering special 454......it was local, but no luck yet. If I were to do that suburban I would probably put on a clip from a 77/78 Suburban. Or even the 74/75...

Lowering kit is lower than expected... issues!!

Beautiful truck! I too also like that rake, I would personally leave it and modify the inner fender wells for your issue. However, you have to be happy with it so if you want to raise that front a bit for the look you want, do it! No matter what you decide, that truck is awesome!
