What is supposed to go here on the HVAC blend box?

Thanks, I'll try this first! Yep, that's what I ended up buying. I suspect it will last a while if it's meant for ducting.

What is supposed to go here on the HVAC blend box?

Maybe just some foam tape from Home Depot?

What is supposed to go here on the HVAC blend box?

I'm in the process of redoing the interior on my 1973 K10 and I found two issues of concern. The defrost vent tube that attaches to the top of the HVAC box behind the dash has a huge gap between where it connects to the box. Initially I thought that maybe I just needed to pull it down further...

    TH350 / TH400 / 700R4 / 4L60E Transmission Inspection Cover & Brackets

This transmission cover was removed from a 1989 Chevy Suburban 4x4. This is the correct fitment for a small bock / big block Chevy's and a TH400 and 700R4 transmissions. Transmissions must be the "k" style 4x4 case with 6 bolt holes for the inspection cover. Will not fit 4L80E All parts have...

    Tremec TR-4050 swap

According to the gear calculators I've been using 4.10 should be perfect for my setup. I can't imagine 4.56 would be all that bad.

FWIW my truck has 4.10 gears and 33" tires so we'll see how it performs with this combo.

    Tremec TR-4050 swap

$6700 Not cheap but keep in mind that was for everything needed including all the way down to the shift boot. That also included freight.

    Tremec TR-4050 swap

Yep, I almost went the NV4500 route but the more I dug into it the more it seemed like a lot of people were happy. Special fluid, crunchy gears, harder to find parts for, etc. Coming from the Jeep Wrangler world (TJs) I'm very familiar with the NV3500 for the TJs. It's notorious for the most...

    Tremec TR-4050 swap

The gear ratios are excellent too. 6.16 1st gear and 6.03 reverse. From what everyone says it doesn't have any of the notchiness that is so common with the NV4500 (and the NV3500 for that matter) transmissions. Parts are much more available, it's rated for more power, etc. I'm not sure how...

    Tremec TR-4050 swap

Yes, the swap kit comes with the 10-spline conversion. It wasn't cheap, but Silver Sport Transmissions set me up with everything I need for the conversion. Of course I say that and I'm sure that once I start tearing things apart I'll find something else that wasn't included. In any case, the...

Which tank straps do I need?

Nevermind, I think this was a stupid question. Pretty sure those are the tank straps minus the mounts in case you only need straps. Forgive me for being obtuse.

Which tank straps do I need?

This is for a 1973 K10 short bed with the 16 gallon dual tanks. Looking at this diagram here: https://www.lmctruck.com/fuel-system/gas-tanks-parts/cc-1973-87-side-mount-gas-tank-and-components I need parts 3, 4, and 15. My question is what is the deal with part number 14? Those are tank...

    Tremec TR-4050 swap

I've got the NP205. No, this transmission is a huge improvement over the NV4500. It shifts like a sporty transmission, not like a truck transmission. That's why I went this route. The TR-4050 is also supposed to be tougher than the NV4500 and much easier to get parts for. T56 is a nice...

    Tremec TR-4050 swap

I bit the bullet today and ordered a full Tremec TR-4050 swap conversion for my '73 K10. The 700R4 that is in there now just doesn't pair nicely with that Blueprint Engines 396 SBC stroker. I grew up driving manuals and I think this truck is going to be an absolute blast to drive with the...

What do those of us with '73s do if we want to replace the HVAC controls?

Already started taking it apart. It's cleaning up nicely. I guess that's the good thing about these old vehicles. Everything is simple and easy to work on. Couldn't do this to a 2025 vehicle!

What do those of us with '73s do if we want to replace the HVAC controls?

Yep, I guess it's back to LMC it goes. Lesson learned! Clearly! USA1 also has the wrong one (if it is indeed wrong) listed as well. Sheesh!

What do those of us with '73s do if we want to replace the HVAC controls?

That's what I'm going to do. I'm going to clean it up and see if I can remove the plastic face from the LMC unit and swap it onto my old unit. That's all I really wanted was a new face since the old one is dingy. I'm sure I can make it work with some plastic weld. Still, I'm really curious as...

What do those of us with '73s do if we want to replace the HVAC controls?

Got the factory unit off and here it is side-by-side with the '74 unit I bought from LMC. Doesn't look anything like it, right? No way I can make this work, which makes me wonder what the hell is going on?

What do those of us with '73s do if we want to replace the HVAC controls?

BTW, so I don't break it in the process, how does that vacuum manifold detach? Is it the phillips screws or does it just pull off?

What do those of us with '73s do if we want to replace the HVAC controls?

In fairness, USA1 is also selling the same one I bought as the '74 model. It's hard to even say, honestly. I guess I was figuring that the vacuum tube connector and relay / electrical board were part of it. I can't find those parts for purchase anywhere so maybe they just don't make...

What do those of us with '73s do if we want to replace the HVAC controls?

That's what I was thinking. It looks like I may have to drill some holes as the holes aren't there for those parts. This '74 unit is very similar to my '73 unit but there are some differences. Guess I'll have to make it work. Any idea what the best way to clean up that relay and the...
