Need H6 AC compressor brackets for 454

At the time of the photo I lived in CA and had to have the truck smogged every 2 years. Luckily here in TN we have no smog test, but all I've done to date is remove the smog pump. FYI there are 2 smog set ups for 1985 trucks. Pre 1/1/85 and post 1/1/85. My truck has a 11/84 build date and...

    Installing tailgate band

I'm not sure the 70's full size trim will fit the 81 and up gate. I know the 1/2 size one does not due to the shape of the 81+ gate. The slope by the GMC on you gate prevents it. 73-80 81-87

    Cab light question

@Grit dog the only reason my K30 has clearance lights is because they were required on vehicles over 80" wide in California. The thing that makes my K30 over 80" is the Dana 60 front axle. I think it's about 81" hub to hub. Mine also has the factory tailgate lights.

    Cab light question

I believe this is where the wire feeds through the top of the firewall to the roof. It's been a long time since I replaced the clearance lamps, but from my photos it appears only the white wire feeds to the lights. I can't remember how it grounds. I could be totally wrong on this and it could...

Anybody considered hacking up these panels to fit silverado trim?

I bought Coverlay door panels as they are designed like the Silverado panels. I haven't installed them yet, but I'm removing the 89-91 looking cloth insert that are glued on and installing the factory pieces. I'm going without door pulls on the Silverado door trim, similar to what I did on my...

    Diesel Engine Bay Help

I saw one of your other posts and I'm guessing your truck is a mix of several trucks. The "M" in your VIN would indicate a 350 engine, not a 6.2L (C or J). The hydro-boost brakes are better than the vacuum style. They came on diesels and heavier trucks like my K30. The other thing is I don't...

    Fog/driving lights 81-82 bumper

One of the best fog lights I've ever used was the Hell 550 clear fog light. They might be a hair big for the opening, but would still have that old school look.

    Dual fuel tank filling

Back in the day (80's -90's), there used to be a company that marketed the dual tank fill set up like you've shown. I'm sure if you looked in some old Peterson's 4 Wheel and Off Road you'd find adds for this. I can't recall the name of the company.

What was the cause of the door strap defect?

Well here's how I dealt with in in my '79 when I upgraded to the '81 & up interior, I got rid of it.

    Headliner Trims

What Brand/color of paint are you using to match the color? I asked USA-1 when I got some sun visors a few years ago, but they just told me it was a general color they used- no help... On my last truck, '79 K15, I found a bunch of parts on line, circa 2013. From the factory, it did not have a...

What carpet kit do I need?

Here's what an '85 high hump looks like for reference. I have a TH-400, NP 205 set up in mine. I'd go for the high hump version.

    New K30 CUCV member

Welcome. Looks like you found a nice truck. My K30 has a 454/Th400/NP205 set up with 3.73's. Tires are 32.8" inches tall (305/70R16). At 55 MPH I'm turning 2000 RPM. My truck has a 3" lift for reference.

What year front clip do you like best?

Back in 1995 I had an '80 3+3 the rage was to update them to the 89-91 front end, but I was cheap and went to the '85. I like the 73-78 fronts the best, but also like the look of and '84 Chevy. If you did want to change you truck, you'd need a new core support, etc and good luck finding one of...

Zero Rates on the Front Axle

With the lift and moving the axle forward with the Zero Rate you may be at a neutral position with the sway bar. Even if its not, the sway bar end link would be pushed to the rear a little. Since the suspension mainly moves to the rear for compression, it may not be an issue as it would be...

Zero Rates on the Front Axle

If you still want to run the sway bar I an vouch for the ORD sway bar disconnects. I've run them on the last two trucks. Definitely lefts the bar work separate from the spring.

    Another Driveshaft Question

I googled this, so someone correct me if I'm wrong. The 84-86 K30 Military (CUCV) trucks had this set up. I will make an assumption one would fit out of those trucks without issue. "What transfer case is in CUCV? All models used the NP 208 aluminum case, chain-driven, transfer case except...
