    Dim Dash Lights

Yes, I agree. The majority found on ebay, amazon etc do not dim, which is why I said "likely", although I expect that to change over time.

    Dim Dash Lights

Just to add, I installed LEDs in a 1974 C10 I'm currently working on, and yes, they do make a huge difference. Cost about $10. Just know that you likely won't be able to adjust the brightness. But then again, who dims their dashlights anyway?

    Anyone In South Carolina? $145 for (4) 15” x 8” Rallys

$250 is about the going rate around me. That usually includes dry rotted tires bonded to the rim, and curb rash on the rim edges.

Tie rod ends (quality question) for C10

I buy Rock Auto parts and they are at my door in about 2 days. Good prices, lots of selections and good bargains on the discontinued/overstock page. I order from O'Reillys and if it isn't in stock, it is ready for pickup in 24 hours. O Reillys, Advance, Autozone, etc all usually have a promo on...

Tie rod ends (quality question) for C10

Just an FYI, I was replacing wheel cylinders (AC Delco) on the rear of a 70s C10 quite a while back. It was the first time I had to replace wheel cylinders in 20 some odd years. I pulled out my 5/16 bleeder wrench and went to open the line. The wrench wouldn't fit. It was a 10mm. Hmmm, now I...

Rough and shaking 350 after changing spark plugs

I picked up an 80 GMC 350 sb last year in between some other projects, so it mostly sits. The guy said occasionally it would cut out and sputter, mainly during wet weather. Ok, so I drive most project trucks for a few weeks to get a feel for them. No issues. Then one day it starts choking out...

    Interior Bulb ID

I agree and am not interested in swapping out the exterior lighting. I'm just trying to gather a list of the interior bulbs sizes/numbers for reference when doing interior led lighting.

    Interior Bulb ID

I did a search before starting this thread so apologies if I missed the information. I know that the standard dash cluster bulbs are 194s. However I am trying to locate the original #s for the heater control bulb, the lower dash courtesy bulbs and turn signal bulbs. I am switching everything...

    Oil pressure help

I brought a 78 Chevy with a 305 back to life that had been sitting in a barn (yes, a barn find) for about a decade. 120K on the original motor, granny driven. After getting it running, I changed the oil with the Rotella 20w 50 stuff. The oil pressure was 5psi at idle and about 20psi tooling down...

    Will any 350 fit?

The mounting hole locations on the small block chevy itself did not change. That is the short answer. I have a 74 with the original engine, but my 79 has a 71, my 1970 has a 1982 motor, my 1980 has an 84, and my 1985 has a 1978. They all drop and bolt up the same. The rest of my reply is...

    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

I was 13 when my mom bought a brand new 1975 robin egg blue white vinyl top Mercury Marquis. I still remember my eyes burning for the first few months from the interior off gassing. She was 5' tall on a phonebook so I don't know how she saw over the speedometer. You could hit animals and small...

What did you pay for a square

I drove Squarebodies that were 5-7 years old at the time and didn't have enough metal to hold the wheel well trim and had holes in the floorboards, lol. Both 70s and 80s models that were quickly on their way to becoming a powdery pillar of rust with a tire at each corner. Poor water drainage and...

What did you pay for a square

Bought a 1974 C10 Custom Deluxe a few weeks back for $2600. The last owner died from covid and it has been sitting. No rust, 87,000 original 2 owner miles. The rear brake drums still had the original copper lock washers on the outside. The 350 doesn't smoke, tick, leak and fires up within 2...

I want to drive an '89 suburban 700 miles home, what should I know?

"I Just Bought A 19XX __________ And Driving It 600 Miles Home" videos are popular on youtube. They are entertaining and beat watching reality tv and cable news. You mentioned that the Suburban is a "driver" meaning to me, that it is currently in use and has not been sitting. A driver tends to...

1974 Custom Deluxe Houndstooth In Search Of

Looking for the premade kit/covers. I currently have a 79C10 and 80K10 and and 85K10. I don't see any differences in their seat frames or designs, so I figure it must be in the pattern. This is a rebuild to a daily driver, nothing show quality, I am just trying to replace what came from the factory.

1974 Custom Deluxe Houndstooth In Search Of

No, the driver's side is complete gone. I'm surprised that it has lasted as long as it has, but it is a 2 owner truck.

1974 Custom Deluxe Houndstooth In Search Of

I just picked up another project I don't need, but was too good of a deal to pass up. It is a 1974 Custom Deluxe with the saddle brown houndstooth upholstery. Just doing a quick search of all my bookmarked vendors and I cannot find anyone that sells replacement houndstooth for that year. I did...

Exhaust replacement- anyone do it without welding?

Lots of folks out there just can't drop 1-2k on exhaust, but a cheap welder will keep paying for itself, and sometimes it might even pay you.

Exhaust replacement- anyone do it without welding?

It is mostly just preference. I have had great success with clamps only. I have also used a $150 flux core harbor freight welder and loved it. A great place to learn how to weld is beneath your truck where nobody can see your newbie welds. If you need to drop a transmission you simply cut and redo.

Where does the engine smoothness come from?

About 20 years ago I owned a baby s*** green 69 Impala 4 door hardtop with an L48 350. Some of the early repairs were replacing the shocks, control arm bushings and rebuilding the quadrajet. I put 4 radial tires on it. I still remember sitting at red lights and unsure if the car was running or...

    Rally wheels

Good deal. $150 is about the cheapest I have purchased any 15"x8"s for, and that is in rusty condition with rotten tires attached.

    I've come here to complain!

I was an ASE Tech beginning in the 80s. I worked on a lot of these trucks new. I had an 88 S10 last week that had a bad fuel pump. A fuel pump, filter, relay, oil pressure switch, ignition control module, PCM, 3 fuses, a fusible link, two grounds, a battery, 6 vacuum hoses and 8 days later I...

Does anyone know any specifics on this truck????

Marketing. Those numbers were outliers, and created with setups performed on dynos and test tracks specifically intended for producing the max mpg numbers to satisfy the government and advertising departments. Yes, better than average mileage can be obtained thru better driving and maintenance...

    Getting rid of old gas

Yep, the other day I emptied out 5 gallons of unleaded shellack from a rusty gas tank into one of those empty square kitty litter buckets. It looks like Bourbon. I'll drop engine parts into it for a soak and it will become a parts cleaner.

    5.3LS won’t rev?

Step 1 Look for the obvious. You have a fault code. What has changed about your truck? You had exhaust put on and now there is an issue. 1/2" diameter pipe difference is not causing the problem. PO354 is electrical. Try to clear the code. If it resets then you have your lead. I have been down...
