Doing a bit of whittling on the chamber wall and seat .. With the install of oversize valves, some work is involved to enhance the flow ... This ^^ is the finish I'm shooting for on all 8 holes .. Will cc the chambers to match all .. They was at 118 cc's .. Be a guess at the moment but...- dragstews

Ya know, might be a idea to upgrade to a trans with overdrive and lock-up converter ? Better gas mileage would be a huge plus ..- dragstews

Now a days it's Superior that seems to have a handle on the aftermarket kits .. 'Gill Younger' days was in the 50's, 60's and into the 70's ... RIP - A definite legend in the transmission industry. But, what I'm getting at is the tranny sounds tried to me ? With the governor being stuck...- dragstews

4. Direct Clutch Pack Failure The 3rd gear relies on the direct clutch pack. If it's worn or burned out, the transmission won’t engage 3rd. Fix: Drop the pan and inspect for clutch debris. Whoa ! File fitting the rings took a bit of time to do .. One more hole to do and the oil pan is ready to go on .. Done with dat chore .. Back to the heads ... Moving along ..- dragstews

Last piece for oil control in the lower end been fitted ... Getting really close to lock & loading the oil pan on ... This helps to keep hot oil off the bottom of the intake ... Was going to run a air-gap intake but decided to get one that's design for the PP head ports .. Might be a tad...- dragstews

Sack full of parts will be here Thursday .. In that sack of parts is another item for oil control in the pan ... 496's rotating assembly been balanced .. Time for final assembly .. Cam & bearings went in super well .. Crank went in, got some work to do fitting the oil scraper ..- dragstews

Been working on the exhaust wall of the chambers ... Hadn't got to doing the intake wall yet ... Giving some room for the O.S. valves to do there thing will enhance the breathing in the chamber, also on the table to do is notching the cylinder bores .. Bore notching is said to be worth about...- dragstews

Had to order a ball hone to take some meat out of the new balancer's hole .. (1-5/8") Taking out .002" with a ball hone will be slow go at it's best .. I called the company and they pulled a few from the shelf, found one that was on size ... They said it would not be a problem to do a trade...- dragstews

Brand new crank. brand new Hi-Po balancer and brand new tool ... Well, being I'm dealing with new parts I assumed they would be a plug & play fit .. Had the need to install the balancer to do the balance job to the crank, that didn't go all that well ! The push was way to much, snap the tool...- dragstews

Not sure if I mentioned the valves going in my 781 heads having 11/32" stems instead of the factory's 3/8" ... Used one piece bronze guides for doing the smaller stems ... Some weight was lost and a bit more flow was the results ..- dragstews
