To remove or not to paint frame?

Hello, I'm not sure if I should have posted this in the paint and body section but since it's suspension I figured I'd start here. I'm fixing to sand blast and paint my frame for my 78 2wd. My question is I'm not sure if I should remove the lower front frame cross piece that's under the...

    hood cable broken

I'm interested as well since I'm putting a cable latch on my non cable truck. I have all the components and have been thinking of rigging something up to make opening easy in case the cable breaks.

    Body to frame webbing??

Thanks much! That's exactly what I thought. This truck never squeaked so It'll go back like it was without "webbing".

    Body to frame webbing??

Hello, I did search and can't find an answer. I see on LMC truck they offer "body to frame webbing" for 73-87 C10. Part # 38-7460 for 25.95, 30ft roll. My questions is: Is this "webbing" on these trucks from the factory? I tore my 78 down to restore and it didn't have any that I remember...

84 C10 rear drum brake shoe picture?

I have a 78, not sure how similar they are but when I get back from work later today I'll take a few pics. That is unless someone post some of the same year as years before I get there.

    Where's the weld(s)?

I put a side on a 73 over 20 years ago and it had welds but I don't remember the weld details. I guess some may have come with some type of bond material, prob later models. Not sure.

    Where's the weld(s)?

Sounds good, thanks for the reply. I was wondering if they were only spot welds or full beads. I still have the factory seam sealer or whatever it is so it's hard to tell. I'll have to blast it all off anyhow but it's good to know they're only spot welds. Sounds good, thanks for the...

    Where's the weld(s)?

Hello all. Are there welds on all three places with arrows on a bed side? I got this pic from the internet, it's not mine. I'm just trying to decide whether or not to sand blast my bed together or in pieces so I can get in all the crevices. Thanks.

Glad I didn't fill it it, thanks to all.

    What is this hole for?

Thanks much!! Is that from an assembly book that's still available?

    What is this hole for?

I took many pics during disassembly but I failed to take one of this area. See the pic and does anybody know what this hole is for? I was going to fill it in but I googled up this part and they all have this hole. This panel goes under the steering column. Thanks.

Parking brake cable mount for exhaust that exits to side in front of rear wheel? Pics?

Sorry I don't have an answer but are these cables factory? The reason I ask is my 78 that I'm building has cables and they are going to hit the trans pan and cross member and what you have looks much better.

Early or late window regulator for swap??

Also I believe you must use their switches. I would like some input on whether the 77-81 motors work better than the 82-87 motors. I'm sure the connectors on the motors and switches are different and I have to buy the connectors plus the switches. I want to make sure it all plugs together.

Early or late window regulator for swap??

Thanks for the reply. I did see those, they are pricey but prob worth it to not have to mess with the factory stock stuff.

Early or late window regulator for swap??

I'm putting electric windows and locks in my 78. The door shells are empty so I can use either the 77-81 or 82-87 window regulators and motors. From a price standpoint the 82-87 is cheaper since LMC has the motors for 39.95 ea vs the 77-81 motors for 124.95 ea. I "assume" the later style...

    Leaf Spring Slider/Liners

Hello, on the rear of my 78 C10 there's some thin plastic shims hanging out of the sides of the leaf springs. After some research I see they are liners and I do see the material for sale to cut and put in. But I don't see any replacement kits for sale. I don't have the leafs apart yet but I...

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

I'd like to find OEM now for 90.00, ha. I saw one somewhere on the internet this year for 600.00. I paid 400 for an NOS pass side fender, I just had to have it.

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

Well, I got the gap a lot closer after I took those pics so it's going to be fine. My gaps in the striker area on both doors measure about .180 and the hinges are as far forward as they can go without grinding the holes out on the hinges but I'm leaving them alone since it looks good like that...

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

Yes, I'm glad he kept it, I learned to drive in it and we have a lot of memories in it. I forgot to mention that in around 1990 I rebuilt the original turbo 350 that was never touched before me. It was missing the brake band. I remember the truck would never "brake" while off the gas and...

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

Yes, it sure seems like it. My dad bought this 78 new so I've known it since I was 11. Nobody has ever worked on it but us. When I removed the back glass and gasket I noticed a dent inside the cab that the seal partially covered up that looks like they missed one of the spot welds and made...

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

Funny, I went to Walmart yesterday and saw one around 1985 and the gaps were very nice, made me jealous, ha. It looked all original.

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

Thanks to both. I'll do the doors. I actually adjusted some more and got the gap closer but I'll still need to use some rod to get it the way I always wanted it to be. Much fun.

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

I'm fitting my doors on to set the hinge position on the cab prior to removing the doors and finishing the final body work. This truck, like most all, has a fairly large gap at the top and at the A pillar, almost half an inch. This truck was like that since new and I've hated it all the way...
