What have you done to your square lately??

I would tell you not to drive too far without the keys in...but your truck is a 78. Different for late 80's models with electronics attached to all ignition and throttle body stuff.

What have you done to your square lately??

Jumped ports A and B turned ignition on, just for fun, 3 code 12's and then code 42. Was hoping it would only give back code 12 miraculously. I then cleared code 42 via disconnecting the negative battery cable. Reconnected, jumped the ports, code 12 only, no codes. Took it for a quick run...

What have you done to your square lately??

So looking to grab a new ICM for under the distributor cap to begin fighting off code 42. Should I hold out and order AC Delco? Or Delphi? Or Accel? I think I want to go with AC Delco but was hoping one or two of use guys could tell me experience with Delphi, or Accel? Other brands you all have...

What have you done to your square lately??

Anybody have an experienced suggestion on where to start? I would really like to dive in to a "closer to direct" area of the electronic spark system to save time. I would love to go through every procedure in the repair manual, but, if I could save several hours/days/weeks/months, that would...

What have you done to your square lately??

Cranked it and let it warm up while I planned to dust the pollen off and move my wife's car. I dusted the truck and as soon as I got in my wife's car the thundering idle stopped suddenly like I turned the ignition off, but I didn't. I ran to the cab and the check engine light was on. Immediately...

What have you done to your square lately??

Gonna grab some 1/2 in. split loom on the way home from work tomorrow. I am thinking two or three, 6 in. sections would tidy those wires up for a better look. @CoggedBelt75 your engine bay is immaculate. I will try to get mine in better standings but, I'm not worthy! Lol!

I Spy A Cool GM Truck

That's Bad Ass! I love In and Out Burger. My wife and I went for the first time on our "first chance to real honeymoon" in Cali. We found one leaving Sedona. I recently saw that they are moving operations to Tennessee because Cali is crapping the bed for businesses and many other things(I could...

I Spy A Cool GM Truck

Recently, I've seen plenty of cool ones. The coolest I happened to see when unable to snap pics. Here are a few in their natural habitats I managed to catch: These seem fairly tame compared to the ones that had me rubbernecking, but cool nonetheless.

What have you done to your square lately??

Topped off the oil, ran errands, and took a "Tub O Towels" to the engine bay for a little clean up.

What have you done to your square lately??

Yesterday I drove the truck to work. About a minute away from arrival, I wanted to crack the window for a second and no movement, but I could hear the motor moving. Today I popped off the door card and as expected the Schwarzenegger bracket had wiggled loose and the gear was not gripping. I...

    intermittent code 42

Watching this one. It seems there is always more to learn about the: TBI/ECM/ICM/OBD1. I keep my paper clip jumper in the bench seat console.

...Also, during install, I discovered that my palm sized flat head screw driver was perfect for removing the blade from the arm without removing the arm completely, or damaging the paint on the hood or cowl.

What have you done to your square lately??

Put new wiper blades on today. I got the correct size OE(proper needle fitting from Advance...they happen to be Rain Ex.) Slightly longer blades than what was on the truck when purchased. Now I need to get the drivers side tube from the arm re-attached to the wiper blade for windshield...

    No oil pressure

Sender(bell shaped) is the switch for an 70's -80's -ish guage. The other skinny one is for a light on the dash(likely 88 to 90-something).

Riding in to SLC. Early 20 aughts standard cab, swb. What a view. This is also what you see when you look out the window of the In and Out Burger we stopped at for lunch.

Bench seat with floor shifter..to console or not..

Ha, yeah! Mine is loaded and definitely comes in handy when I forget to switch over my E-Z pass and end up passing a toll booth.

Bench seat with floor shifter..to console or not..

Go for the classic easy style. I inherited this with my truck. Not sure if it was from the dealership or for sale afterwards, but I have seen them in quite a few 80's squares. It is convenient, easy to move, and weighs enough to not go anywhere unless you move it. Getting stuff from behind the...
