I think I need at least one "TVS", that has a broken off port. How do I identify these and where can you get them? The blue one is broken, the orange may be OK, but probably replace at the same time.. If we can get em. I have confirmed the EFE valve does work.

What have you done to your square lately??

Rebuilt the carb on my 250 - 6. Its the original Rochester. Had tags that it was rebuilt by rochester, and Holley on it. The rebuild went fine until final assembly. Took about 30 minutes to assemble, until "the hard part". Getting all the damn rods and itty bitty circular clips back on and in...

I rebuilt a 1941 Chevy truck with a 235- six. It was very similar. In working on this 6, I found changes all the way through the life of the Stovebolt. It always had major changes every few years. Yes, it changed in 63, but also in 29, 36, 39, 47 and 87, with the integral head. So changes were a...

The new plugs fit!. You kinda gotta ram em in after the threads start, but... These are 1" long. You can see how far they go in.. Again, these are ¾-16. The hole was ¾-18 just because so you don't do this. Adjusted the (engine intake and exhaust) valves also. Easy peezzy So this means I'm gonna...

So, my plan is to make it look like its therefor the next time we have to look under the hood. In three years. Maybe, maybe knot.. But these kids have no idea. Sorry for the rant above. The hole in the heads to plug is ¾-18. I have ¾ -16 bolts coming to plug.

Latest on this project- removing all the damn vacuum lines on a 250-6 with integrally stupid head. I'm also working on finding a valve tap, but thats the gravy to drive me into this mess. So. I have a new valve cover bargain coming from LMC, but it only fits my early non stupid head. So, I have...

Crank pulley thread size for 3 holes.

I tapped the three holes to ⅜-16 I'm able to turn crank easily now with 3 temp bolts inserted. Excuse the bother, but between my back and my knees I just have trouble getting down there. I have work to be done before the surgery.

    Brake bleeder system

I've been doing brake systems for years. Minor bleed or full system, I use a mytyvac hand held suction pump. recently I upgraded to the pro model in some kinda metal after wearing out a few of the plastic ones. The one thing you need to know is that bubbles from leaking threads appear all the...

Crank pulley thread size for 3 holes.

I want to rotate my engine by hand, and wish to put bolts in two of the three crank pulley holes, and then use a screwdriver to rotate the engine. What is the bolt and thread size of those three bolts. My case is an 81 250-6 but I think all of the non bolted pulleys are the same. My crank pulley...

Amazing how this engine ran perfectly, getting 15-18 MPG, Nice idle, accelerated properly.. with all these vacuum leaks!! The last of the stove bolt engines.. First installed in 1927

OK, I have now started the process of tear down. I knew I had to replace some vacuum hoses but also found my carburetor bolts were loose. Found one of the four air valves was loose where it went into the head. I'm going to remove alot of this stuff (*&^(), rebuild the carb, Check all valves and...

If you were asking me, I use Penn grade high zinc oil 10W40 with MOA additive. The tap is very clearly a mechanical bang.. Once each rotation. Something is clearly amiss. I have slow mo video that very clearly lets you hear the tap as a mechanical issue. I'm hoping for a bad pushrod or lifter issue.

I am working on the same engine/project. Soon. Trying to get a few dump loads in before taking it apart. I was looking at a new head (from a 70 Nova, which I now have) and separate intake and exhaust, but this required a catalyst replacement with the new exhaust, or perhaps EFI to feed the cat...

What have you done to your square lately??

Put a new fuel pump in, as I had a carburetor leak down issue (I thought it might be valves in pump leaking, but also suspect carb boiling its gas) Also my trailer wiring was meat-headed somewhere along the line, so I ripped out twisted wires and tape and fixed factory harness with crimp&heat...
