Putting a gas 350 in a 6.2 diesel frame, quick input please.

With squares and even GMT400s to an extent, most of the drive-train stuff more or less “drops in” with only minor modifications sometimes being needed. Where things get messy, is when you start mixing and matching body panels and interior bits, especially when trying to make 73-76 stuff work...

Putting a gas 350 in a 6.2 diesel frame, quick input please.

I don’t know if the engine mounts themselves are the same, but I know transmission bell housing bolt pattern will be same between a Detroit and a SBC. The biggest thing that needs to be addressed is that you’ll either need to convert the SBC power steering pump to work with Hydroboost brakes or...

    A/C options - 81 C10 Non A/C cab (LS Swap in progress)

If you commit to an OE style setup, I recommend looking at some schematics and diagrams before you start making purchases to make sure you don't miss anything. The parts list in my earlier post covers the majority of it, but be sure to look at the various diagrams to make sure you do not miss...

    A/C options - 81 C10 Non A/C cab (LS Swap in progress)

There’s really no easier way to get the OE style AC parts, than to find or buy a truck a that already has them and take what you need. However, there’s not too much AC specific parts you need to acquire, and a lot of them can be purchased new. Off the top of my head, the 81-91 square body...

    Fuk u

I don’t know what OP is even mad about.

What have you done to your square lately??

I finally converted my 6 lug front to an 8 lug (Previous owner installed a 14 bolt rear). It is nice being able to carry only one spare tire and have the same size lug nuts on all four wheels.

    Well that sucks

Did you lose air co Did you lose air conditioning function though? If you did not, then it is the heater core. If you did lose AC and find large amounts of engine coolant/antifreeze in the box, then that means you have possibly blown both a heater core and an evaporator core. The heater core...

    Well that sucks

The compressor is only capable of generating so much. Your RPMs will not really play a part unless someone put way too much refrigerant in the system at one point. It is an easy mistake to make when switching from r12 to r134a. r134a requires less refrigerant since it operates at higher...

    A/C options - 81 C10 Non A/C cab (LS Swap in progress)

Does the truck in question have factory AC? If it does, you might be better off just making the ac refrigerant lines to work with whatever compressor is on the LS engine, and using vacuum ports on the engine or external vacuum pump to operate the controls. Doing it like this guarantees the best...

    Well that sucks

It would originally use R12. If it was properly retrofitted for 134a, it should have R134a sized ports on it or adapters on top of the R12 ports. Outside of that, there’s no way to tell unless one of the components has been explicitly marked as 134a (some replacement compressors will come like...

    Door panel rehab

On my ‘85 C10 with the original door panels, I used SEM color coat. I think spraying a base coat of plastic adhesion promoter helped a lot. I didn’t sand, because I wanted to preserve the original texture. SEM does make a texture replacement product in an aerosol can, but I’ve never tried it...

    Another Gauge Needles thread

Maybe you can commission a CAD modeler or drafter to make you a model to 3D print. With measurements of the aftermarket needle and measurements of an original (even if you break one, you can still glue it back together to get the measurements.), it should be pretty straight forward. I don’t know...

1of 150 vehicles offered with no reserve

Considering the overall condition, 17k isn’t a bad price.

1of 150 vehicles offered with no reserve

Aside from the cheesy JC Whitney grille, that’s a pretty nice looking truck.

1st post. Round eye square guy in NE Texas.

Welcome. That’s a beautiful truck. Shamrock green is best green.

What Trans for a cummins swap c10?

At that point he might as well just sell the C10 and buy the Dodge, unless the Dodge in question is in exceptionally awful condition but still has a good frame.

What Trans for a cummins swap c10?

For a 12 valve out of Dodge, this is applicable, but for one out of a medium duty Ford, the power steering pump is is gear driven behind the crank case and the vacuum pump is 12 volt firewall mounted unit. It’s a pretty safe bet OP is getting his engine out of Dodge, but there are quite a few...

What Trans for a cummins swap c10?

A 12 valve isn’t the hardest swap you can do, though since you’re starting with a 1/2 ton, you will definitely want to beef up your frame and suspension. Granted, many 1/2 tons came from the factory with the 6.2 Detroit diesel, which isn’t exactly a lightweight engine, so the marginally heavier...

Windshield squirter does not work when intermittent module is connected.

On my way ‘85 C10, I’ve been going through the windshield wiper system. For years, I assumed the squirter was broken, but when I hooked up the wiper switch straight to the harness without the intermittent module, it works. I feel inclined to blame the module, but the delay function still works...

    BAT - 85 swb C10

The flames on the headlight bezel really tie it together lol. This truck honestly looks like what happens when a high school kid in the late ‘90s/early 2000s inherits dad’s/grandpa’s truck, wants to “customize” it, but can’t afford to do anything drastic, so he settles for the flame stickers and...

    BAT - 85 swb C10

It looks pretty solid, but it’s about $5k overpriced in my opinion. I’ve seen similar condition 4x4s and equal to slightly better trucks like this one sell for 15 to 18k recently.

Question about center grilles - 81-87

When I got my ‘85 it had one of those awful JC Whitney grilles on it. I was happy to ditch it. I don’t know why those were even ever remotely popular to begin with. They make the truck look like an air conditioning unit. As for fitment, you can put an 83-84 or 85-87 grille on an 81-82 truck...

Passenger door won’t lock from inside without key in door or lock from outside with key in door

Update: I recieved my new set of lock pawls from Classic Industries. What’s odd is that the pawl that fit my passenger door had “LH” on the bag. I am going to assume it was just put in the wrong bag. I have functional locks on my both my doors again, so I am more than happy.

SBC 350 Possible issues with Carb?

Does your 1406 still have an electric choke? On one 305 I have a 1406 on, the choke coil needs to be moved from time to time, or the truck will run like crap. Also check your vacuum advance line for any damage and look for vacuum leaks in general. I’m currently running an OE style fuel pump on...
